Live - World Cup

posted Jun 27, 2010

It's frankly ridiculous that football is being spoiled by the lack of technology that sports with much less money involved and at stake like cricket, tennis and rugby can use technology on difficult decisions, maybe by the time of the next World Cup we will have this. Scotsmen have a saying 'Och aye the noo,' which means 'yes, just now', if we had 'Hawk eye just now' England and Mexico fans might feel a bit less angry about the matches today, mind you both defences of these teams gifted goals that pub teams would be ashamed off.But this is not the last of the dubious decisions and dire defending we will see in this World Cup, that's for sure.

Next season I'll take one for the team, run on to the pitch and kill the referee if he makes a clearly bad decision.

Even my wife shouted offside ine real time for the Tevez goal, howdid the linesman miss it?
BTW Chelsea will not want video technology, as they wouldn't have won the league last season with it!

"get ready EPL will start soon they well get as much time to rest now"

Tell you what, Israel, I'm not looking forward to the EPL, to look at those players again. Would be some temptation to axe that first XI next game and start completely new, let that first XI sit and sweat and think long and hard. Until such time, looking at them would be something else.

"MEXICO ARE FINISHED THE CHEATS PROSPER AGAIN"

Dont blame the Argentinians, blame the officials. And Mr Blatter.

Blatter's idea of being fair / equal is by allowing "non-favoured" officials to be part of the WC - backfiring a bit on him now though!

He'll probably do something behind the scenes to ensure a "non-favoured" team (England) gets the WC in 2018 so they don't have to fail to qualify!

Mexico need to get one back and shore up the defense before half time. But most of all cool off.

Another game ruined by the officials.

This World Cup has been shaped by poor refereeing. I can't remember an international football competition in the past with so many refereeing errors, and I think it's a shame that this competition will be overshadowed by them. On a side note, if Argentina have just watched their goal proven to be offside, wouldn't it be a great signal to the world for them to allow Mexico to score back? Surely they don't need to cheat in order to beat Mexico?
--------------------------------------------
It's not Argentina cheating, it's FIFA ineptitude

true, however argentina saw the replay, saw it was offside, saw the goal shouldnt have stood yet argued when they thought it would be dissallowed, which they should be ashamed of.
this has been the worst world cup i can remember.

poor pitches, empty seats, pathetic vuvuzelas, french cheated to get there and then were a complete joke and the referees have ruined about 1 in 2 games with pathetic red cards, USAs 2 perfectly good goals in the groups and now this today.

"To be honest Germany did England a favour today.
Could you imagine this Argentina forward line against the English defence?"

If we had played like we do individually in the EPL, to be good enough to beat the Germans, then facing Argentina wouldn't be such a thing. Seems that Germany had put a number of our players out of their long misery that must have started from when they left England.

Why is it that most other teams at least look like a team whereas England, tournament after tournament, look like a bunch of strangers who have only started playing together a couple o days ago? It's a complete mystery to me. Is it because their first allegiance is to their club?

the diff btwn uruguay yesterday and argentina today?

argentina still are going for goal while uruguay were sitting back until south korea equalised

wud be nice if everyone played like argentina and had hunger to go for goal regardless of the suspect back

one thing y i supported madrid earlier was they always scored many goals and gave away many goals too but it was fun to watch - now am dreading with mourinho as coach - it going to be boring
=========================
Sorry, but Mexico were matching Argentina easily until the error. They went to pieces after that so, its easy to say that after the event. If that dodgy goal hadn't stood, we'd still be at 0-0. Plus Messi would be on a yellow for his 3 different rolls.

No more celebrity coaches for England. The players are already poor long before Capello, Sven, McClaren et al get a hold of them. England need good coaches at the youth level and less hoof-ball specialists in the PL.

The players must be brittle out there, almost every contact results in a player dropping down and rolling in some pain. You'd get those kind of knocks day in and out on the playground or in the Sat/Sun league, and just get up and on with it.

LiverBirdMate,
It is like I said to you yesterday,England had to improve a lot more than Germany to win this game,Germany did improve but England did not.
The tactic's the line up and even the team's attitude from the very 1st game have been all wrong.

There was not 1 positive thing to take from the 1st 3 game's but it seem's many seemed to think it was a good performance against Slovenia,it really was not and to be honest they got what they deserved in this competition.

Chaos in the tunnel - looks like there might be 'old scores' to settle in the second half, not maybe only fuelled by the opening goal.

The ref could be busy.

Rumour that Blatter was trying to revamp the competition in a bid to make 2014 group qualification easier for teams like England. He wanted to introduce "The Golden Shot" (new version of the Golden Goal) but it fell at the first hurdle during a demonstration when one Rooney missed a s*itter.

It's all kicking off at half time and it looks like it's Heinze yet again trying to cause problems. He's got to cut this out of his game because Argentina can't afford to pay off every single referee they get. This one they could fortunately, but if Heinze keeps punching people indiscriminately in the face,he will eventually get punished.

I don't think the refs can afford to blow another call against Mexico. If that happens it will downright get ugly out there. The mexicans are very passionate people, and having this done to them will make things only worse.

Argentina should make the semis at least and given the quality upfront, they deserve to win the WC. Luck will play its part at times but you have to make your luck. The Mexicans can create all night but the likelihood of getting goals is way too low given their attack. And the way they are pushing up, its just a matter of time before the get punished again.
