Live - World Cup day four

Tab Ramos, bless his heart, there is an exact name for the bone that got broken by Leonardo but other places just call it a fractured skull, very painful. Both teams that went to the final in '94 did that. I don't think Spain would have lost that game without that happening like Shumacher did in '82.

The vuvuzelas have not quieted down. The rain looked to quiet them but nah. They're louder than ever. This match has sounded like a heard of elephants being attacked by one million bees. I can't even ear Juergen Klinsman's match coverage.

I've come up with a way of beating this drone.

Get out a CD or your dad's vinyl copy of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon. Mute the TV and put the music on high volumne. The pace of these low scoring matches are perfectly in tune with the Floyd's masterpiece and no more vuvuzelas. Probably like your dad, I saw them on that 1973 Dark Side tour when I was in college. The LP of the year. The sound of that summer. Oh memories. ;)

Italia 1990 was nothing to write home about as far as the football was concerned. Is it any coincidence that it was England's finest World Cup performance in recent times?

When the Dutch have problem with their passing game you know the ball sucks. Germany is going to the final because it is used to the ball.

A draw, almost predictable draw, Italy had more tempo but they got a bit of a break on that save.

The Italian press are actually VERY knowledgeable about football and critical of their team at the RIGHT time, before the tournament...not after when any foll could tell you a teams failings.

All WCs are generally poor displays of football. What do you expect? These players don't regularly play together and are under heaps of pressure. It's the rarity and global interest that makes it exciting, not the football itself.

How is this a shock result??? we absolutely believed we could beat Italy, and i believe had we had our first eleven fit we would have given them a much better game. We expected 3 points from this game. We're disappointed with a point to be honest. Italy were there for the taking and i think Slovakia can beat them, which doesn't bode well for us.

Disappointed with Paraguay. They could have gone & won it, but they went into the game thinking a draw would be good enough, so that's all they played for.

Is it true that ITV missed Gerard's goal with an ad break? They're taking the P out of them on French telly!

Yep, viewers on the HD ITV Channel were treated to a Hyundai advert instead on the goal

That's the second time in recent memory they've cut to adverts by accident and missed a goal

In fact, the only time it seems to happen is when goals happen, would it be a good thing if they actually did show more games if it meant more goals?

@ Germany is going to the final because it is used to the ball.

I heard today on WHYS, the German keeper with nothing to to do in the Oz match, practiced with the Jubilani as early as 6 months ago at his Bundesliga club. How did that happen? I thought FIFA had it under wraps. Why couldn't Green, Sir Alex, Rafia, Chelsea's boss or Capello have a crack at that ball? How do the Germans always win Cups or at least get to the finals? Besides easy draws I guess you can see it now. Anyway they can. :(
