It's dejavu. Iunno. Kenny might not be all he is cracked up to be. Blasphemy, I know. But Keegan was meant to be the same for Newcastle. The saviour isn't always who you think it should be.

I couldn't have put it better myself, unfortunayely there is still some fans out there who he continues to fool and who will call us plastic supporters for wanting him out.

I'm astonished so many Liverpool fans have taken so much time to come to the conclusion that Rafa is a poor manager
PS It's déjà vu

He's a good manager who had a bad season.

Next year you will raise the Premiership.

I know he says we need 5 or 6 quality players, but this season we have only lost Alonso and Arbeloa?? He's made yet another public clanger, because that suggests we overacheived??

So if we over acheived, how is he the man to take us forward?? He cannot buy tactically, anyone can say 'yes give me a few world classies and I'll bring home the title'.

Enough excuses go Rafa!!

this is type of article has been done to death, but i'l respond anyway.
Do we really want to sack a manager when we're 273m in debt, have small stadium, our top players want out, we're not in the cl. Do we really want to give another manager time and money to build a prem winning team? I bet my car that if we hire another young manager 'on his way up' we'll back here in 5 years time calling for his head. Short term Benitez is our best option When(if) we get new owners with cash to splash and our finances our sorted and a new stadium is in development ONLY then can we look to hire a young manager on his way up.
Thank you.

Very good points but I am pretty certain that these points have been raised before too. RB has to go for the benefit of this club, after all is 5 years not enough? I believe it is. There are several senior players who are not happy with RB and it may probably create more problems if he remains at the club. You mentioned it is better to keep RB short term, well if that is the case are we going to ask him to remain for another 2 years, I hope not. Also a new stadium will be built with or without him been there, why is everyone thinking he does not have any part to blame for this poor season, paying over the odds is for players is a norm for RB. Blame it on the owners except me syndrome. several average players are still at Liverpool because of him.

realistically who would replace rafa? King kenny said he wouldnt manage again and i think we should respect that, why would oniel, hodgeson, mcliesh, rijkaard etc... leave their comfort zones? liverpool at moment is a managers nightmare so all im saying is benitez is the best we can get at moment.

I really don't understand how people can think he is a poor manager whilst also saying he over acheived last season. surely if that squad over achieved then it is his management skills that helped the team to finish second. rafa is a good manager other teams like juventus and real madrid would not want him if he wasn't and to be honest i think clubs like real and juve are going to know more than people (including me) who write on these boards.

Whats Keegan achieved in comparison to Kenny at the top level in management. He did a great job with Fulham and well at Newcastle but Kenny is easily the most successful of the two. Would he be any good, i don't know but he would probably be the most popular appointment.

I've always stood by Rafa but im in that middle ground where i'm not sure what i want. The owners to be gone is the only thing im sure of at the moment. Bit of a shell shockin season to go from almost winners to an almost mid-table team.

Question:

If Rafa is an iceberg, what is Liverpool FC?

Answers on a postcard to be sent via a lifeboat.

totally agree with this thread. Rafa is a poor manager who has been living of the success of the CL and FA cup with Houliers players!

RAFA OUT!!

His player management skills seem so poor in comparison with others. But hey it seems silly to sign someone up for 4/5 years and then just jack it in when it gets a bit tough. Lets be honest 2nd was a bit of an over achievement with the squad we had, I can't see any manager coming in and being able to do a better job from now on cos there doesn't look like there will be anymore cash flow. Lets concentrate on getting back into the CL. No one mention "title contending", you will only embarrass us sensible fans.

Rafa has strangled Liverpool and now we're dangling, gasping for air and fighting to survive. Our best players want to leave because Rafa insists on playing lame donkeys that wouldn't be able to get a place in the starting line up for Portsmouth, yet Rafa plays them week in week out. He makes crazy substitutions, poor tactics, stifles any players with potential and... Well, there's lots of Ands...

He's lined his pockets up a lot better than he's lined the team up.

As a united supporter, of course I'd like him to stay.

As a football fan, get rid. His whole persona, his era at liverpool, is characterised by a nervous over-tactical approach which doesn't provide for the kind of spontaneity that you see in the best teams.

I honestly don't know how anyone can defend Rafa. They are like the tramps in Waiting for Godot. They just keep on believing in the tooth fairy and turn black into white everytime. They've got us in this position. To be honest I don't blame Rafa that much, he's skillfully played his fans off against the owners. Yet he's blatantly looking for a payoff and whatever way you look at it that will come out of the transfer budget. Rafa seems to think he can punish the owners without punishing the club. He is dead wrong.

if you look at the great managers of the prem, and yes i have to admit mr ferguson is one with the likes of mr wenger also, how long in charge were they before theyre teams won silverware, and havent they both bought donkeys? i think give the guy a chance, yes he set a high standard when he first arrived cl, fa cup etc and no one was knocking him then i just think give the guy time..
