LOLOLOLOL Cheese thinks the second goal was a clanger by the keeper.

Proof that women (and the BBC live text team) know nothing about football.

The Egyptian keeper made a brilliant save from Milner, the ball fell luckily to Wright-Phillips whose shot was DEFLECTED which prevented the keeper from saving it. He actually did well to get a hand to it.

You're an idiot, it was appalling keeping.

Mate you're on a predominately English chatroom when England are playing a friendly match warming up for the World Cup. I know we english are generally a pessimistic bunch and always prefer to back the underdogs, but we're winning the current match we are playing in.

I seriously hate foreigners like you, no doubt getting int he country, openly criticise everything wrong with it, scrounge off the benefit system whilst working for a cash in hand job - get a bloody life

Hey, I don't support any of the homes nations, that doesn't make me less british.

is rooney injured ?
---------------
You could break Rooney in half and he would mend in time for the WC, he's like Wolverine or sommat.

My previous comments.....

"Crouch is an essential squad player. Against lesser nations (and you'll have to decide if Egypt qualify as that) he causes all kinds of trouble and scores goals as they don't have the skill to deal with such an unusual player. Kevin Davies, of all people, is similar in this regard.

Crouch however is generally poor when playing a superior defender. So you need him, or a player like him in the squad for the WC even if it would make no sense to play him against an Argentina, Spain or Brazil.

England's problem is simple. They have no strike partnership that works and haven't for years probably since Shearer and Sherringham.

The loss of Dean Ashton was huge for England. A skillful version of Heskey that a Rooney etc. could play off of."

Northern Ireland's performance tonight was worse than the cameramans; very shoddy... I expect a more successful Euro campaign if Worthington wants to keep his job!

Crouch deserves to play for England, 20 goals in 39 matches speaks for itself. Argentina have beaten the European Finalists, so they have showed they are still up at the top after a dissapointing South American quaification campaign, England come from behind with a excellent second half performance to win Egypt 3-1.

Selected Scores:
Germany 0-1 ARGENTINA
ENGLAND 3-1 Egypt
Italy 0-0 Cameroon
France 0-2 SPAIN

0-0 in Italy and the boo's ring out from the few 1000 supporters left watching. I dare say italy will still fancy their chances, but that was really poor.
-----------------------
Firsty, it wasn't in Italy it was in Monte Carlo. Secondly, it was very poor but Italy still gave a better performance than England tonight regardless of the scoreline.

Let me clue some of you in:

The WC is SEVEN GAMES!!!!!!

Do a little bit of history and you will see that most world cup winning teams don't play all that well in the lead up to the tournament. Many teams even scrape through the opening round then go on to win!

Winning or losing one game really don't mean anything.

Englands 4 strikers for the world cup:

Rooney, Defoe, Cole and Crouch.

Heskey shouldn't be in the side personally Crouch and Cole can do everything Heskey can and better.

Englands 5th striker if capello decides to take a 5th: Owen (who would never start a match but might come on for the last 10-15mins if needed)

Maybe he does cover enough ground but not quickly enough if Brazil broke away with Kaka & Maicon or Spain with Torres & Silva you wouldn't really see Lampard being able to catch up with them.

Yes Lampard plays well in the CAM role for Chelsea but he relies on the pace and movement of others around him.

the two half time subs have changed this game. Carrick has kept hold of the ball and retained possession well. Crouch has held up the ball and been in the box at the right times. And even the substitution of wright phillips has improved the side as his delivery has been much better than walcott

Can't take this win and say 'yes,we have a chance to win the world cup'. Don't mean to show him down but SWP won't be facing these full-backs or defense who are quietly resting..Egypt may have played all the way out to extra time and penalty out there in africa but don't see these players going on good for 90mins. Lucky swp and yes crouch always scores against weak teams.

A good all round performance from England, much better than the usual rubbish that friendlys throw up. Baines has made a claim, so has crouch still not convinced with Wright-Phillips or Upson. As much as we don't want to face Spain or Brazil too early in the competition, thjey won't fancy playing us either. At the mommemt we WILL give anyone a good game.
