Well done France. Totally gutted for Ireland, Dominated by a great french team. Not second best in all depts though. Irish line out was good but thats about it. Im going to go cry myself to sleep now.

I agree - none of the teams have shut down the opposition so well, or taken thier chances so clinically as France have so far. I think they have just become very hot favourites for the Slam, and good on them!! The two top teams played today; and one of them was a long way better than the other. The team that recently beat NZ in NZ. France.

They were top-class today, no doubt about that.

Too many Irish mistakes today, not all down to good French play either. Too many unforced errors from the Irish.

I guess just disappointed with the Irish performance. However, take nothing away from the French, they were magnificent - they could have won by double that score but for some desparate last-ditch tackling.

Bastareaud is having a massive influence on how they attack and defend. But alongside side him the old man Jauzion looks as good as ever.

If the French lineout functions in the next three games they'll take some stopping.

After all the tinkering of the last couple of years they now seem to have a very settled 15. So aggressive in defence and so much pace and power in attack... it really is looking very ominous for all the other 6 nation sides.

Just seen the stat for ball won in the opponent's 22:

France 11
Ireland 30

Almost an inversion of the final score

Too many Irish mistakes, but the French did play well I guess. Lesson to England, Wales and Italy - target their line-out, we got a good few steals. Really poor result though, and I feel if we'd have got a try at the end of the first half the result would have been different. Score line flattered France though. We can still retain the Championship boys, we just need England, Wales or Italy to do us a favour. Personally I'm pinning my hopes on the Italians.

'The two top teams played today' Really? Ireland were poor last week at home to Italy, France look brilliant thats true.

I would say we need to play a couple games yet to say who joins France as the other contender, considering they beat England by one point at home last season and England destroyed France.

Last season? Last season? And?

This is now, and France look good. If we were going on last season then Wales should have defeated England, but in todays real world, they didn't.

Scotty, so based on the here and now of this season, exactly what have Ireland done to be classed as a top two team?

Answer = Nothing. Read my post again, im not saying England are there yet, i said lets see a couple games before coming out with arrogant statements about the top two teams playing today.

Well it was based on what they had done in the last year - Ireland going undefeated and France beating NZ quite well in NZ. Something a NH team last achieced in 2002. But thats in the past too! So in a Buddhist attempt to live in the moment, I'll make France a top team as they have the most points at this current point in time. winkeye
