He doesn't even field his strongest team.

What on earth was he thinking with Walcott?

Then he takes Diaby off.

He's a good manager but he really needs a better coach who understands tactics and can keep up with the game and make fast decisive changes.

This game was a walk in the park for Chelsea. No problem, no sweat. Arsenal simply never looked like scoring.

Sure, in a 90 minute game the odd chance will show up, but it was rare, and we took care of it.

In the second half we let you come on to us - to show us what you've got. Turned out you had nothing. Easy win. And Arsenal remain.... well Arsenal really. smiley

mr wenger, you are a grade A idiot. please, please, please will you just go to madrid so we can get in a manager who understands that football tactics go beyond "get the ball. pass to wing. pass to opposition keeper"

where are the great players of the past? why are we saddled now with a bunch of twelve year olds and manuel almunia? please, sell the club, sell the team (fabregas, arshavin, RVP, theo and vermaelen excepted) and start again. WITHOUT WENGER.

no bergkamp, no henry, no seaman, no hope.

Arsenal have gone backwards. The proof was shown in the last two hours.

I know changing the topic to money makes Arsenal fans feel all warm inside - after all, you're only in debt for a little over 300m.

I an sit back and relax with an e4asy 2-0 win, and having watched a wet sock named Arsenal try try try, and have nothing to show for it.

Unless you face the fact that Arsenal have low expectations (happy to finish 3rd?!?!) you're going to have a few ore seasons of being an accountant. smiley

Nah.

What really happened was that the game simply changed. We no longer needed to score in the 2nd half, and were happy to give Arsenal some time and space. We didn't put much effort into attack, instead we sat back to see what you had. Which was not much.

So yes, in simple terms you were better 2nd half - but only because we were comfortable, and in control of the game.

As was proven by the final score.

Arsenal fans were telling us all two weeks ago that they'd win the league.

Where are all those Arsenal fans now?

Same old arsenal. Talk about winning things but never actually win anything.

And now they even sound like Liverpool fans with "next year will be our year".

5 years, no trophies.

I'd say "they don't have any fight in them" is somewhat harsh. The players are doing the best they can with what they've got. It's the manager that's the problem. Making no signings in January seemed like a massive mistake at the time and an even bigger mistake now.

I thought before the game drogba will score but it would be a lot closer than last week, that arsenal would come out fighting tooth and nail, that they would show some desire but they offered no threat, nothing. Clichy was bad BUT WALCOTT WAS AWFUL. Pace and nothing else. The arsenal teams of old were always able to take care of themselves. This side have the passing and technique but no backbone. Hopefully Manchester utd win seeing as if we get Rio/Vidic at the back together we'll do pretty well. They are crucial for us yet we are only 2 points behind despite not having had them together for a long long time. Hopefully Chelsea have to deal with losing two of their best players but its going to be close!

So Arsenal lost to Chelsea at home. Is that such a big surprise? Get some perspective, we're hardly in a Liverpool style meltdown. Arsene played his best available team who got outclassed as once again we endure another injury ravaged season. Take JT, FL and Drogba out of Chelsea and see how they get on.

Chelsea played very comfortable THEY KNEW WE COULD NOT SCORE.

* Wenger relied on injury prone strikers and wow got injured.

* Tries to convince us that scoring goals against medicore defences like bolton is proof that we'll score against good defences like chelsea or UTD.

* Improvement in defence?, none whatsoever, leaves us so open its a joke.

*Buying a good goal keeper? Nope, that would harm confidence of Almunia and Fabianski.

Of course our club has gone backwards, arsene is busy protecting young players such that we don't see investement.

Same old same old. Arsenal had all the possesion but offfered none of the danger. They're too flimsy, lightweight, skippy and neat but have next to no killer instinct. Just when you think they're going to shoot, they pass.

They're undoubtedly the fourth best team in the league but that's all. On any given day soemone from Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City, Everton or Villa are bolder, more urgent and hungrier.

It's time for Wenger to think deeply about his "philosophy". It's just not paying dividends.

i love chelsea fan's incoherent attempts to troll us lol. fair enough chelsea were the better team. they have a galaxy of stars and they are an absolutely unstoppable force.

but come on mate what the hell are you on about? nobody's trying to change the subject to money- that IS the subject! is it just a coincidence that your only league title came in 1955 and then suddenly after being bought out in 2003 you win two on the bounce! shocking! especially since drogba was goin to spurs before abramovich waved his wad under his nose!

maybe there is bitterness in every one of our black arsenal hearts, after all it's not against the rules to be rich.

but we won our titles off the back of our own hard work and it will be a black day if we have to become rich ourselves to win anything again.

so fair enough. you've had your fun and you've done the double over us this season. just don't moan when mr abramovich gets bored and takes it all away, k?

Title over 9 points behind now we have to focus on 3rd and the CL (if we meet Man Utd, Barca or Chelsea we will loose AGAIN). Now I'm waiting for the Arsenal website to release a statement by an Arsenal player saying something along the lines of "we'll fight until the end" probably Almunia who isn't a first choice top 8 GK. Is there any point in complaining anymore Wenger won't listen and the board won't pressure him to win a trophy so I finally give up with Arsenal now. We spend money on merchandise and Wenger doesn't listen to what is obvious that we need another striker, better GK and defensive midfielder.

Finally, Wenger gave up the FA Cup for 3rd spot and the semi final of the CL well done.

Weirdly enough, Liverpool aren't in a Liverpool style meltdown either.

Look over your shoulders Gunners, there's a Red shirt gaining on 3rd spot. ok

We might just salvage some pride from the season yet after the performance yesterday. If that doesn't convince them they're a team nothing will. Well done Redmen. applause

Someone said he didn't need to watch more after the 30th minute. I watched the match at a pub, as I wanted to see the reactions of both sets of fans. After the 60th minute, I lost hope for something to happen in the game.

Walking back home, I remembered Wenger's comments on Villa, being a long ball team. They have Young, Agbonlahor and Milner, though, never mind Heskey and Carew - four out of the five very good and very English players. You make arrogant comments when you are arrogant, but also when you have the team to back up your whatever claims.

I also remembered the comentator of the match referring to Anelka and the fact that he cost Arsenal a few thousand and made 20m profit. Is this the target though?

I am sure Chelsea will face a tougher opposition at Everton. Today my suspisions of fatique creeping in did not dissolve. At some point at the second half they had 29% possession. They also had Drogba though. All that will be remembered from a non even match will be his ruthleness in front of goal.

Job well done, Chelsea. As a Manchester United fan, I feel at ease with Wenger at the helm of Arsenal and the continuity of his policy. I have a curious question to ask, though: if a manager sends his CV to your team, claiming he can make the team play cute passing football, win nothing in 6-7 years and then, if players don't get bored and leave, he might push for a trophy... would you want that manager in your team?

It's all over. Tonight was the final death knell for Wenger. From a football team comprising of born winners, powerful characters and world beaters to a club who's only string to their bow is to turn a profit. A miserable affair for a former football man like Wenger. Blind faith is not going to prevail this time old man. Tonight was all too familiar. In the biggest month of his no longer young teams season there is only one word required. Failure. Outright, uncompromising failure from players and staff alike. No cups, no league again and again. It's foolish to consider a place in the champions league as a real target. Farcical.

I dont get some of the comments about the game. Arsenal lost because Chelsea took their chances and Arsenal didnt. Arsenal were ahead on all the stats (except goals obviously) but with Van Persie out they dont have anyone of the class of Drogba upfront to make the most of this.

As for the title race 9pts is a sizeable gap but certainly still bridgeable considering Arsenal have easier games left. I just hope Van Persie is back for the latter stages of the champions league.

Arsenal are comfortably third, have had quite a lot of bad luck with injuries, have not spend large amounts of money, are making a healthy profit and suddenly fans want wenger out. Anyone remember what happened to charlton - they were comfortably mid table, curbishly went and look where they are now. Look at Leeds, they spent money, admittedly money they didnt have but look where they are now. It's a good job for arsenal that they're owners aren't as madly ambitious as their fans.

Anyone saying Wenger should leave obviously doesn't realise how difficult it is to profitably and successfully manage a football club

btw try havin a read of the book Why England Lose cos that will give you a real idea of how football actually works

When chelsea or Man U park the bus in front of goal and play on the counter attack, it works exceptionally well against us. It's always hard breaking down a disciplined defensive team.

It was the constant wide play that was so frustrating to watch. Why play crosses in for Arshavin? It didn't make any sense.

We looked much better in the 2nd half but still not brilliant. A little sharpness in front of goal and some more shots from outside the box could have changed things.

Nevermind, well done Chelsea. Hopefully we can bury Liverpool at the Emirates.
