we should be looking to chase Liverpool? From when I last saw the table (about 2 minutes ago) they're the ones not doing so well at chasing us! winkeye

Fair play to Harry Redknapp - obviously not happy at HT & told them to get their finger out. Manager needs a lot of credit for that second half performance - sounded on the radio as if the midfield got stuck in & made sure they won the ball.

Bravo & congratulations

As an Arsenal fan in peace i have to say very very impressive performance, and you know what i think you guys have the squad to break into the top 4.....

Great depth in certain areas, perhaps need a bit more in defence but i think you guys really can be optimistic about your chances for the top 4!

Congrats!

What a great result but the season is long so let's not get carried away. Liverpool, like people have said are most in danger of falling out of the top 4

Im so happy though

you are despatching the weaker teams without any problems. Come end of the season i think it will remain the usual top 4 that includes liverpool. There are no definates in football when it is technically definate!

The season is short. Over a third gone and Spurs are still in the top 4. But you're right, it does take more than one win to achieve that.

I really wanted 10-1, with Defoe getting a double hat-trick. Ah well, I'll take 9-1.

And yeah - it's Liverpool, not Arsenal who are in danger of dropping out of the top 4. I have to say - it's nice to have a 5 point cushion on Liverpool at this stage of the season, although obviously still a long way to go.

WOW.

I'm not even a Spurs fan but IMO this has to be the best result of the weekend.

Very good game, and superb performance showing that Spurs are a force to be reckoned with... BUT...

Such results are always 'unusual' and shouldn't really be seen as being an unstoppable team.

I think Spurs are real candidates for top 4 and highly probably for top 6, but it's not halfway through the season yet and much can change.

Great cause for optimism, but don't start assuming anything is a done deal. City, Villa, Liverpool, even Sunderland and a couple of others could come on strong...and we all know some teams will lose form (like Villa did at the end of last season) and some will gain form.

I really am not trying to be a WUM, you're looking red hot at the moment. Just I'd like to think most of you have a realistic view of the world (like most City fans)... and accept that there's a long way to go and there will be some surprises along the way!

Enjoy the week guys!... another win like that will be a long time coming!

Lets just see where you are come May, seem to remember this time last season Aston Villa fans were celebrating their champions league place too.. smiley

Clearly the same sort of 'Arsenal fan' that cared what Henry did in a game meaningless to this country...
Also loving the article, 'attendance 65,000', even when you score a respectable amount of goals you still find a way of displaying how jealous you are of Arsenal...

Spurs early season form was the best in the league, they have had a few wobblers in recent games but this shows they are real contenders for the top 4.

Well done spurs first time a team has scored 9 since United against ipswich back in the day. Defoe is a monster!

Harry needs to have a strong word with that useless lot. If we'd have made more of an effort in the first half we'd be third tonight!

Joking aside, I'm sure the cynics will question the quality of the opposition. However, you can only play against the 11 on the park and we did that to clinical effect tonight. And Wigan are 14th and have beaten Chelski this season so it was by no means a walk-over.

I understand Capello was at the game. Surely Messers Crouch, Lennon and Defoe must feature in his squad of 23 if they keep up this form.

However spurs have a long way to compete against chelsea and Co so vent your spleen ppl just 1 game right.

What an impact a fit Lennon makes!! Can't wait to see what Modric does when he comes back. Especially if King is fit, and Woodgate for that matter. This win has had to have sparked some belief not just into Spurs, but other teams as well that they can finish in the top four. Best Spurs team I have seen in a long time.

I know you and us newcastle fans don't get on too well for some reason. But holy s*** what a performance, Defoe is proving each and every single one of you wrong for selling him. Couch is playing his part and Krankjar is going to provide a real headache for Redknapp when Modric is fit, unless he can incorporate both of them. But would having Modic, Lennon and Krankjar in midfield leave them too weak? I don't know.
