Brilliant result for Lewis and the team. Excellent drive from him. As we can expect of someone of his calibre.

Lewis and Kimi both drove very well whilst the drivers who are used to winning races this season messed up their race.

Brilliant drivers by both Lewis and Kimi. It's a great shame about Alonso but hopefully we will now see four or five different teams battling it out at the front.

And lets not forget, it was a first race win for a car fitted with KERS.

Certainly a good day for all of the McLaren team.

The Toyota boys also had a pretty good day at the office

I hope this puts the KERs system on the table for next year.

Its another variable that makes it a bit more unpredictable.

It hasnt been the huge advantage everyone has claimed as it effectively has a 10% success rate for wins.

If anyone had have said at the start of the season that it would be 90% innefective no one would have bothered with it.

The track suits Lewis's aggressive racing style.

It's just so good to see him finally get a win, and hope this is the sign of things to come from McLaren in the future.

I agree it was a great drive from Lewis, but I think "third fastest car" on the grid is really pushing. You could argue that it was nip-and-tuck with one other car (Red Bull), but personally I think the McLaren was the class of the field (not that you'd think so watching Kovalainen).

Speaking of stewards, why was Kimi under investigation after the race, when the incident happened in the first 5 minutes?

Hamilton did everything he needed to do, and as far as I could see he didn't make any of the mistakes that have so far plagued him this season. These mistakes were probably down to little Lewis trying a bit too hard to compensate for his slow car.

I had a good look at Lewis's on board shots, and he looked fast, smooth, and under control. Great win. And a good race from Kimi too.

@Diego

The only thing you have to go on your suggestion is becuase Lewis drove so brilliantly. The McLaren has without doubt improved but it is not like Red Bull for instance where the drivers are actually close on race pace. I do think Lewis is outperforming the car. Brilliant drive.

mintroyalle -

I agree Hamilton outdrove the car and was a deserved winner. No doubt about that. Kimi and Rosberg outdrove theirs too in fairness, but Hamilton was the class act today. That said, if he had not outdriven the car today and just merely did a strong, solid job I still think he would probably have won as the package looked awesome.

In clear air Kovalainen was also on the pace of Webber/Vettel, who in my view are quicker drivers, which makes me think the McLaren was the best car to be in today.

In any case I think there's no chance McLaren was "the third fastest" car this weekend. They have been massively on it all three days.

@diego

Fair point but I still am not sure about the McLaren being the class act. I think the red bull was the fastest car, just, and McLaren, Williams and Ferrari are on very similar pace. That is why I think Hamilton outdrove his car the most and was teh class act but so did Raikonnen and Rosberg who had excellent races too.

Nooner! Since you object to Hamilton's drive being described as flawless, then you must have seen a flaw. Please enlighten the rest of us.
In passing, are we to hear the outcome of the stewards' enquiry which was promised after the race? Since the incident happened before the first corner, may we take it that all future decisions will be made after the race has finished?

Flawless race by Hamilton in a much improved McLaren. It's obvious that the slow corners of the Hungaroring benefited both McLaren and Ferrari, which have problems in fast bends or at least had them earlier in the season. I'm concerned about the way the stewards decided to investigate Raikkonen's possible penalty after the race because, first, it shows that Ferrari is always treated differently than other teams, which is bad enough and, second, it could mean a penalty or disqualification for hard-working Kimi. If Webber received a penalty in Nurburgring, then Raikkonen should have received the same treatment... Anyway, the Red Bulls weren't so comfortable in the slow corners and, obviously, they had a few issues with the tyres. Webber's third place (or will it be second?), however, put the australian in a very strong position to fight for the title. Valencia may not be suited to the Red Bulls again, which could mean another strong result for McLaren, Ferrari and even Renault or Williams, but from then on, Spa, Monza and Suzuka should prove favorable to the RB5. All in all, a decently attractive race, which is not common at all in Hungary... Hope Massa is well and well done to Alguersuari, who made a very good debut considering the situation he was in. Alonso should have been fourth or fifth easily: Briatore might have given the "death-kiss" to a few of his mechanics today.........

Nice to see Raikkonnen come second as well, a fitting tribute to his injured teammate. Hamilton was a class apart today, I think it's good that the weight's lifted off his shoulders somewhat as we all know it's highly unlikely that he's retaining his title this year and thus he's able to relax a bit more. You never know, a few more errors from Vettel and a few more tech failures from the Brawn team, and Hamilton may find himself back in contention if he can get a podium streak going.

I agree he did do well and I think it should also be remembered that he could have done it two weeks ago. Webber did deserve a win but it was unfortunate lewis got a puncture into the first corner otherwise I am sure lewis would have got a podium finish then.

PS

Please pay close attention to Sutil and Fisichella as they are doing very well this season fisi has made some beautiful overtakes this season and sutil is making a few good moves himself. force india have very good drivers i cant wait to see how there car improves next year. I also agree with the person who mentioned Timo he is also doing well.

Finally

I hope a Brit wins the season I wouldn't mind button but wouldn't it be amazing if lewis won every other race and one it won't happen but I thought I'd mention it.

El_NANDO made a thread yesterday saying that Alonso will win by miles and that hamilton would be nowhere.

the thread was closed, but when asked if he would admit hes wrong when alonso doesnt win his reply was.

"Yes, I will come back onto this thread tomorrow and admit I was wrong and am sorry for being so confident in the great man.

I have no problems in accepting I am wrong from time to time"

--------

So we are waiting EL NANDO, by your measure of what makes a F1 driver the best, its by winning this race, thus Hamilton is the best.

What is impressive about this performance is that Lewis has been driving an unstable car for a while now which has no doubt drained his confidence to drive fast. What he has done here is remarkable at his first real attempt with this car. His drive today was almost Senna like. Great drive and lets see more of it. <applause>
