Gutted that he's left us - but it was almost inevitable.
I hope he does well for you and doesn't do a Sonko/Kitson/Shorey/Sidwell.

6.5m is great business for Reading. Doyle's a top-class pro and a nice fella but I just don't think he's a Prem League player. After a reasonable start, he hardly set the Championship on fire last season - I saw him miss some howlersa nd always seemed to play with his back to goal. I wish him well and now Reading can get on and start to rebuild the team.

Sorry Wolves, but I just don't rate him. He doesn't have the pace or the strength for the Premier League.

Could've got someone much better for 6.5m.

Yet another example of how everyone hates Aston Villa!

Villa have tried every summer to get Doyle and he always turned them down, now he signs for Wolves? No offense, but Villa are a much bigger club than Wolves and can afford to offer players better wages than a lot of the other Premier League teams and are challenging for Champions Laegue football...sort of...yet no one wants to play for them, it doesn't make any sense...

A great signing of a very very good footballer. Seen him play a few times and I have always been impressed, particualrly his movement and ability to hold up the ball. He scores his fair share too. He's perfect for our style of play, IMO.
6.5M for anybody is a farce, but in this crazy sport, I think it is good value.

terrible business at 6.5 mill

he may of been worth a punt at 2/3 mill if we were still a championship club.not a great player at all.

Well over priced he only scored 13 goals, and people are making him seem like a top goal scorer and has done nothing since, I think Wolves may regret wasting so much money for them.

youve made your point Charima's boyfriend....you can now stop posting on every article you find that you disagree with the signing! we get it!

For the Chelsea fan, Doyle destroyed us at Molineux last season and we were the best team in the division! We know what qualities he has and he will fit in with Ebanks-Blake nicely...

Doyle's an established international player and has been a fixture in the Ireland team for a couple of years now - he plays really well at that level so given the right service he can do well in the premier league again - 6.5 million is a relatively small amount for a player who, although has been in the championship last year, has proven he can do the business at a high level - Kitson went to Stoke last year for a similar fee and didn't do much - it's an astute signing by McCarthy

Cos I can't think of any.

decent player but teh price tag is a bit inflated. Can't be anyworse than Dave Kitson though Stoke may as well have bought a Sunday league pub player for all the value they got out of him

Of course it's over inflated. But if we don't pay the over inflated price, someone else will. So, what should we do? Miss out on quality players just becuase we aren't prepared to pay the price that market forces dictate? No.

He is worth 6.5m because teams are prepared to pay 6.5m for him.

It's all very well people saying 6.5m is too much, that was the amount required to trigger the release clause. He might of only been worth 4m, but Reading wouldn't sell for that.

Only time will tell when the transfer merry go round round kicks in, if we missed out on someone else priced around the same amount, but I'm very happy with this signing.

He's a quality player in the championship, might be a bit of a high price considering he's unproven in premiership but he could certainly do very well. Lets hope him and Blake step up to the plate.

Bring on Mancienne now and i'll be a very happy bunny.

Seems like Mick McCarthy hasn't moved on or learnt from his past mistakes......when he had 'no' money at suderland, he bought John Stead.....he has money at Wolves and he's bought the superstar that is Kevin Doyle.........I think he will soon begin to regret this......

I'd say it's a decent piece of business for both sides. Doyle is a model pro, and a great player. He'll do a lot better than Kitson did for Stoke last year.

On the other side, 6.5 million, and the top earner off the wage bill, will help Reading to balance the books. All we need to do now is get rid of Hunt...

cracking signing.

Slightly more than ideal but like Southern and others said - we COULDNT (!!) get him for less because of the release clause. FACT.

SO I am happy. He and SEB will get some goals next year. We just have to make sure we dont ship too many now...

Personally I think its a bit of a gamble if you take into consideration the other clubs that were linked Everton , Villa etc

However thats not to say I hope it doesn't pay off for Kevin and I wish him all the success he deserves and I will always be thankful for what he did at our club

Now Wolves need to do their side of the bargain and establish themselves in the PLsmiley

People who are worried that Doyle played too much with his back to goal at Reading or only scored 13 or 18 goals should remember he'll be playing with SEB, a good strike partner. Kitson's failure at Stoke was unfortunate but was as much to do with his attitude and Tony Pulis, I think.

Doyle will be a great signing for Wolves. He's a better player than when he last played in the Premier and is the ideal partner for the pacier, more direct Ebanks-Blake.

With the number of so-so teams currently in the Prem, a good strike pairing like Doyle and Ebanks-Blake could be enough to keep Wolves safe!

I know a lot of guys will laugh but I would have taken Doyle at Anfield. I've seen the lad play and he has it all. He's extremely under estimated. This is a great bit of business. Doyle will score goals. He's a good striker, brilliant at holding the ball up, is no slouch, is strong and has good awareness.
