a very important match for cfc to win.

a reality check next week, we can manage without j/t, the rest of the side are battle hardened ,we will at least hold our own.

= draw at least!

Mikel showed how important he is in the holding role.

Lampard, Fantastic goal from a fantastic Chelsea move.

Anelka showed he is at best a reserve striker.

Malouda showed he needs to go in January.

Drogba actually looked still unfit when he came on, he was tired after a few minutes and didn't run for the ball.

Class show from Chelsea despite the inept ref.

City have a long way to go, Robinho I hope you are happy. doh

I thought we played excellent tonight, as mentioned above it was important for us to win, but to play like that and get 3 goals was just awesome.

It's a shame that the sending off put a downer on the game. I think we have a strong case for appeal.

Robinho is going to cause a lot of trouble for most teams... but not Chelsea.

Agree with you BornBlue about Mikel, he's really coming into his own after the departure of Maka.

Still not impressed by Malouda though.

Why oh why did Man City think their team would be challengers after buying Robinho? World Class player but you need 11 of those on the pitch. Chelsea outclassed them today

Good game by Chelsea. Unlucky Man City if Ireland had taken a few of his chances the score line might be different.

In terms of many Blues fans questioning Malouda, thank God you muppets are not Scolari. Robinho looks good alongside Jo and SWP, but Man city need to get more quality midfielders and defenders apart from Micah Richards to really compete. I like that young Sturridge, he looks a real prospect. A bit bemused at Mark Hughes bringing him on with only 7 minutes left to play.

Quite impressed with City, but need to be more adventuress and play Elano. Robinho looks useful, Kompany is very useful.

However my old hero Deco is now the main man in England. Amazing that after 6 years loads of people now agree with me that Deco is a top, world class star. Not too many of them in the premiership.

Still as a City fan, happy enough. I reckon we could be top ten, again.

In fairness Galaxy, I've tried to give Malouda the benefit of the doubt this season, hoping he'd adapt better after a woeful debut season, but he hasn't.

He played well for Lyon?, he plays good for France but he shanks it for Chelsea. Should have scored from the header and frankly at times he looked like he couldn't be bothered chasing the ball.

I really hope he improves.

There was an air of inevitability after Carvalho's equaliser, but I am happy enough with City's performance, especially considering the opposition. One swallow does not make a summer a they say.

Good luck for the rest of the season. ale

I could not disagree more.

I think City were lucky not to concede a penalty, when Anelka was clearly, clearly pushed in the box. No doubt on that.

Then Malouda hitting the bar. Unlucky that.

The free kick should never have been given against Carvalho....he got to the ball.

Deflection on the free kick was lucky.

Then the sending off should have been a Yellow.

I thought that Chelsea had control over that game and were clear winners.

Robinho....you said he looks good!?!? He gave the ball away many times and even his first touch he gave the ball away. His tricks did not work and for me he was very, very poor today.

I think Robinho has alot of work to do in my mind. He just vanished in the 2nd half. Now I know what my friends were saying who support real madrid.

I think everyone except Malouda were looking real good today for Chelsea.

Plus how many times does Ireland like to hit that ball into row Z!? I like his work rate, but please lay it off to someone that can shoot....

As a Chelsea fan, i thought we played excellent football today. Scolari did everything right like the world class manager he is. We looked solid in midfield, Mikel as the holder, Deco the playmaker and Lampard the goalscorer, now that's a great combination to have.

Deco is just pure class, he plays a simple game, he has great vision and he hardly ever gives the ball away and that is a sign of a great player.

I feel that Lampard is given to much stick and critisum by England fans, he played well for England vs Croatia midweek and again today for Chelsea against City, that Chelsea move and Lampard's goal was world-class. This is good news for English football that Lampard is back fit and in a rich form again.

I'm Glad Anelka scored, he needed that goal to give him more confidence and this will be good for him and the team.

Robinho i hope you made the right move, doh, lol.

Great display all around, I wouldn't give up on Malouda yet but Kalou deserves a run soon. Alex
looked comfortable and surprisingly quick. Robinho got a surprise and deco proved why he received the player of the month award. Terry may have his ban overturned but I wouldn't count on it because it's United! city tried hard but were simply outclassed and Robinho may rue his decision in time.

very happy with the scoreline. If we keep it going like this we stand a chance for the title. This season's title chase will be very open because finally LFC show they mean business and the Arsenal kids destroyed Blackburn today to show their intentions.

The only down point is Terry's red card.it wasnt a staright red but how could he challenge Jo so rashly?he really needs to show more restraint honestly. Now the advantage i thot we had with Vidic's sending off has now been cancelled.

Best of luck to Mancity.Hughes just needs to work on the defence and they'll surprise people by the time they jel.

chelsea were better team no doubt
no one said we would be worlld beaters overnight just by signing robinho
still think top 4 is possible
no doubts about terry's sending off - it was a rugby tackle on last man ffs - his gesture on leaving pitch demonstrates his immature arrogance
i hope he does appeal and get his ban extended
also why oh why cant fat Frank play like that for England ? no pride that lad

there was a certain self assuredness with the way Chelsea played today despite going down to an early lucky free kick goal. They just make ManCity look like apprentices.

Referee was a disgrace to the PL. I never thought I will see another Graham Poll, but Mr Halsey is making me think again.

I feel sorry for ManU. They will have to fight really hard to finish 2nd behind Chelsea, even with all the help they can get from the referees.

Well played Chelsea even though 3-1 was flattering as Ireland lacked composure whenever near the goal and if Elano had played it could've been a different result.

You can't judge City on one match. It'll take time for the team to gel and Chelsea were out to make a point today. If Chelsea play like that all season they will win the league.
Hopefully though City can break the boring dominance of the top 4, but judging by Liverpool's and Arsenal's performance this year it looks unlikely.

Great result from a side who prove there is no substitute for experience in games like these. One thing today did prove yet again Chelsea's sale of some of their players is a mystery to say the least. How was SWP let go when we still have the lightweight pair of Malouda and Kalou, especially when Arsenal wanted Kalou. Again Halsey proved he is not up to the top level with the Anelka penalty and the Terry red card. Yet again there is no consistency with Vidic getting only a yellow for virtually the same thing.

Hmm Last year Chelsea had a manager change, The ACON, injury's to big players and still only finished 2nd.

This season they have Big Phil, Deco no ACON, Anelka for the whole season and the 25m they would have spend on Robinho to spend in January. They also had the best away record and more points than Utd from January-May

I think it could be really hard to stop Chelsea this season. Especially if they Beat Man U next weekend.

3-1 is a good result, we should've scored more but Ref was poor, some decisions were wrong like the Penalty appeal was clear etc!

Terry sent off don't bother me much tbh because last season Terry was on and off getting injured, and Alex did well plus scored a class freekick and one/two other goals, he'll fit in and we'll whip ManU without their one man Ronaldolaugh!

If something does happen to Kalou, Malouda or J.Cole, lets say two getting injured, then we may be in trouble. In hindsight, it may have been better to have closed a deal for Robinho or another winger before SWP had moved.

But hey, there's always January if need be.

This was a straight forward victory. I mean, I knew Robinho, like any other player that has been in the news for a while, would want to make an impression, and he did. But Looking at City, apart from Shaun, Jo, Robinho, Richards and Kompany, sell everybody, including the keeper...and the manager, look at him, doing nothing but posing with his suit and gum. Learn from Successful coaches like Scolari, you don't sit down, you make your presence known, so your players can feel like they're in control and supported. He just sits there contesting every ref's decision.
