Proud and you should be! Well played but that little bit of extra class did it in the end. Thought Raynor had a great game(amongst others) Saints will know they've been in a game.

Respect due!!!
Well, first final missed in ten years and the lads did proud, for many reasons Hull have always had a good place in my heart, notably Cardiff and Leeds, but Saints until I die, and wonderful. Thankyou to 5 live for allowing this expat to at least hear while in Austra.
Come on Ye Saints!!

Really enjoyed the game and great credit to hull. Was a shame that saints got that first try off a forward pass but the second one annoyed me more. The Hull player clearly dropped the ball in the field of play so why was a quick 20 metre restart allowed when it should have been a scrum.

All in all really enjoyed the game even if Ray French gets worse and worse, talkin bout the great britain team in the world cup!!

Be proud of your guys for the effort today, and maybe with a bit more composure they could have won the game

Great final, almost found myself urging Hull on more than St Helens!

Just wish Ray French hadn't kept on going on about the sunshine!

You were well beaten. Saints were put under pressure but at no time looked like they were going to be really stretched. The difference in class was huge. Talk it up all you like, the only final worth watching would have been Leeds Saints. Keep the hankies handy, you'll need them next season

cheers HR I haven't spoken/texted anyone yet but you're right about Raynor. My mind isn't functioning very well yet but they all played their hearts out if only we'd been able to capitalise on the opportunities...?
Anyway I do feel the effort & commitment was there & I salute the contribution from Rich Horne in particular & my heart goes out to Dykes.

That was a great entertaining game that had everyone on the edge of their seats and could have gone either way and in my opinion the difference in class was mediocre.

Sour grapes ring a bell? You've got to be in it to win it.Did you see the expressions on the Saints faces when we went in front? If you enjoy being a WUM that's fine but remember Cardiff?
Being an Rl fan means you have to learn how to lose with a bit of dignity.winkeye

Ignore the Leeds jibes Hull fans, jealousy runs deep there. Your team gave a good gutsy display and well done to Richard Horne, all 10 stone of him, but I have to say Saints were shaken out of their stride, but not enough for Hull to get a victory, but a very worthy final for both sides. Refereeing errors eg forward passes for tries was equal and overall Ganson was a bit too fair, but what choice did he have ??

Hello to all the Whino wingers , we'll see you soon enough !!

A very good effort by Horne. He did not look fit enough to stand up let alone play a part in a big game. As for complaining to the ref, I think Wellens and Cunningham took it to new levels.

I thought Hull played well, I thought they pressed and at times looked dangerous - but they made some silly handling errors (as did Saints for that matter) and some odd choices. I counted 3 or 4 kicks on 3rd and 4th tackles 20 metres from the Saints goal line. Not using every tackle at your disposal is a killer in this game. Some strong lads stepped up for Hull, but some really lazy bits of defence and maybe just a bit of over eagerness let Saints poke holes too often. Only some errors by Saints and a couple of last gasp tackles kept the score down early on.

Anyway - it'll inevitably come up - but I thought Ganson was full of fits and starts. Couple of dodgy calls for stuff you wouldn't seen called anywhere, against anyone, ever, any other day of the week. It kept the score artificially tight, and you could see Wellens was livid with the "knock on" call. But Saints had a try from one earlier in the game and it's all swings and roundabouts.

As per usual - French and Davies were chronic.

just got back from wembley, what a game, 15 mins to go and hull leading, then heartache for their supporters, what a day though for the neutral fan. I've never been before to a RL game but will be ordering my ticket for next year no matter who is playing, what a fantastic day

Hard luck to Hull it was a well fought game.... really thought they could make the dream come true during that second half but not to be.

As a sort of neutral (let's face it I didn't want Saints to win!!) it was a good game to watch even if not the best rugby I've seen all season.

Thought Gansen did well and had a very professional game, although the touchie on the far side was a bit slack on his forward passes but it evened itself out I guess!

HI HTPR, I have no complaints about the officials overall but it was nerve wracking especially with my grandma being at mine. The first time I've heard heard her say FFS referee. yikes but I reckon that was cos we were in out living room instead of the east stand. We both thought FC could have won but chances got bombed & time ran out.

It was definitely closer than I was afraid it might be... we had some mates round who are quite new to RL and I did warn them it could be all over after 10 mins - so pleased to be wrong!!

A closer game than we thought - Hull FC are a great Cup team. Let's not forget Saints were winning it for the third time on the bounce though. Wembley may be the national stadium but no drinks afterwards, give us your money and get lost. Not like Twickenham where we hobnobbed with freshly laundered Saints players and staff after our win. Cardiff even, where you could spill out into the city's bars and pubs. National stadium in the middle of an industrial estate.
Great effort from the lads. It's just our era.

To all the abusive replies. I just don't believe in patronising people. Saints fans do get so wound up, because they know we are ready to take them again. Leeds were beaten by a better side in the semi, no question on the day. So no sour grapes here. Just no pats on the back for a poor team all year, who were well beaten.

no disrespect to hull but i thought saints were below par today which makes the defeat harder to take if you are a hull fan because saints were there for the taking, the 1st saints try was very forward and wasn;t talau in front when meli kicked it,and then byrne drops the ball with a try begging, had hull been that little bit smarter and that bit more disciplined they could have triumphed today,i would just like to add that the effort put in by both teams in sweltering conditions was amazing and what ever they are being paid it isn't enough.

Sweltering conditions,
they had better get used to it considering the weather the players are going to play in against PNG in Townsville shortly, even now 8 weeks out it is 28 deg. so I'd suggest it will be as hot as 38 deg come kick-off

excellent performance by FC, and once again, the scoreline doesn't reflect the true result of a game involving saints. if only hull would have kept hold of the ball.....yeaman could have had a double hat-trick!

that will have taken a lot out of the saints, and i hope the wigan players were watching with their feet up thinking that they can do them next friday.

well played hull!

As a Rovers fan, I'm over the moon that Hull lost because it means our chant can continue for at least another season :p. But in all fairness, Hull were worn down by the typical St. Helens play, they forced Hull into an arm wrestle and Hull lost the arm wrestle. The heads of the Hull players will no doubt drop something chronic after that loss and with the derby just seven days away, Agar will need to do something unbelievably special.

Fair play to the black and whites, even though they really shouldn't have been there, they put up a valiant effort, but did Agar cost Hull the game by playing Richard Horne who was said to have needed at least 3 stone in order to get anywhere near the pitch.

One final thought, what did everyone think of Steve Ganson officiating the final considering his affiliation with Saints? Personally, I felt he had a fantastic game as referee and showed absolutely no favouritism and called it right down the middle.

Well done 'ull - not that it surprised me! I expected the first half to be tight and i expected our fitness class and bench to tell in the end - which it did. It was just about 20 minutes behind schedule due to some great defense by 'ull.

A much better final than the last 2 years and frankly I had visions of 2005 for much of the game!

Credit to Hull FC yesterday for a good solid performance, but to be honest I didn't expect anything less from such a proud club. We (Saints) should've been 20 points up by half time but Hull kept themselves in it, and caused a hell of a lot of squeaky bum time!!!

I must say I don't agree with Ganson reffing Saints games. It opens itself up to accusations of bias or him trying to even things up by giving more to the opposition, and I don't think the line of 'he's professional now' is enough. That said he did have an alright game yesterday.

Now Wembley. Firstly I think that the Challenge Cup Final could soon be overtaken by the Magic Weekend but thats another debate. Wembley Stadium is magnificent. A masterpiece. But the corporate level ruins the atmosphere, and the location leaves a lot to be desired. Back to Cardiff anyone? Given the choice I'd choose the Millennium Stadium everytime.

I went last year but not this. The stadium is fantastic but the rest of the Wembley area is not up to the occasion. Most towns have more pubs and bars than the Wembley district.

MeathHill,
We have the same problem at ANZ stadium. "olympic arena" Homebush.Sydney
A great complex but a lack of atmosphere and outside there is just one bar under a 5 star motel and a beer cost's a bloody fortune. "that's if you can get to the bar". ale

I'm not suggesting the need for people to get sozzled to have a good time, it's just that a lot of people meet at a designated pub, have a couple of ales and move on to the footy.
but not at ANZ it's impossible

ssnrl im going to oz next year and do a bit of travelling as some of my family live in Perth. we are hopefully going to take in a game. which ground would you suggest? heard Toyota Park has casinos and bars inside it?

RLNUMBER1,
Cheers, Toyota Park is an excellent venue, situated right on the waters edge with a great club with good food.
There isn't what you would call a casino there, but a huge gaming area pokies, roulete machines and the like.
If there is a game on in Sydney at the time of your visit the Sydney Football Stadium is a must, they have some great pubs at the door after you have spent the day either at Darling Harbour, the Rocks or just on the Harbour itself.
But unfortunately unless it's a class game there will only be a handful of spectators and it loses it's atmosphere.
Ive been there many a time and the banter at the pubs before a Eng. Vs OZ test game is just fantastic with you bast--ds always winning the singing contest's either at the pubs or in the stadium.
Skilled Park on the Gold Coast is a must if you venture up there, absolutely beautiful part of the world and a great venue.
Cheers enjoy your trip. ale

You will be pleasantly surprised with price of an ale "with the exchange rate"
* A schooner 15oz. ale in the suburbs @ one and a half pound.
two and a half pound in the city or sight seeing venues.
You will struggle to find a place that sells pints these days, so train yourself before coming to say schooner.
