Looks like Sulley's off

great business!, nearly 13m our record sell?

not a fan of Sully, going by his eagerness to get out of the club he didn't seem to be a fan of Portsmouth, now no more stupid yellow and red cards, and hopefully we'll bring in a decent midfielder to play with the world class Diarra, no Rangers move for Pedro i'd have thought now too!!!

Realy sorry to see him go but can't really blame him for being tempted by Inter.

Hopefully the money will seal the SWP deal and Mendes can fill his boots in the center.

Just hope that our other big players don't get similar ideas.

I think it's a good move for Portsmouth, as Harry can now bring in the players he wants with the money for Muntari's sale.

If Muntari goes to Inter will that spark a cheeky bid for patrick vierra?? him and diarra would be class, or do people think he is over the hill?

I would be sad to see sulley go, although he did not have an outstanding season,he showed signs of being superb and 2nd seasons seem to be when the foriengers get going...look at Kranjcar.

Dunne_and_dusted, who do you think harry will sign?

I think it's a shame, but it is good business I suppose. I am a fan of Muntari and think he will go on to become a top player.

I do think though it will enable us to keep the rest of the regular squad, and I would expect Kaboul and Storey to be signing when we get back from Africa. Not sure about SWP. I hear he scored a good goal yesterday.

Muntari flattered to decieve. Amazed Mourhino has gone for him.
Rednapp said he would have to sell to buy SWP, so that's his target.
However, SWP is overrated and has only done well at Chelsea in sporadic appearances.
Harry may get the best out of him though.

great shout Phippers with us signing Vieira, a Diarra and Vieira probably only for this one season though but what a partnership, we certainly need cover in centre midfielder now unless Davis stays with us and agrees a new deal!

Toon fan in peace.
I reckon he'll be a loss for you lot. A quality player highlighted by the fact that Mourinho is in for him instead of Lampard: I felt he was you're best player last season, and highly underrated (obviously not now). But 13 mill is a good bit of cash and should help to fill the gap (although calling Lassana Diarra word class smacks of delusion).
Anyway, with Crouchy and Defoe up front you'll not go far wrong...

if inter get lampard as well they will have no need for vierra, pompey is the perfect club for him, old friends here in sol and lauren, diarra knows him from arsenal and france, kanu from arsenal. he would fit right in. I hope harry reads this!!
Comeondavid, agree it would only be for 1 season but would be a good season no doubt.

Can't believe Sulley's leaving, he's a top, top player, but I can understand him wanting to play for Inter under Jose Mourinho, and 13m for him's pretty good, but I'd rather have the player than the money.

im sorry redknapp...this is a stupid thing to do...sure it gives us the money to buy swp (carefree redknapp gets the best outa flops so shh!) but sulley has many more years in him to be a top quality player and probably put up his transfer fee by the age of about 25-26 he could be worth nearly 20mil! i think selling him now is the stupidest thing redknapp can do after he wanted to have him in his team for so long now he jus guna get rid of him after 1 year how stupid

Harry is th Hudini of the football world. even though i dont approve his style of unsetlling players to get them on the cheap (like he did with Distane but faild with Dunne), but you'd have to take your hat-off to him on how he gets players pn the cheap and sell with a 100% profit margin.

Carefree, chelsea want to try playing him regularly instead of every now and then. give him a run and he will improve. plus the expectations are so high at chelsea you just buy another player to replace them if they dont get man of the match every week. harry will get the best out of him!

Great business - Harry can pick up another couple of promising players from the profit alone.

And for whoever mentioned Diarra, the fact he flopped at two huge clubs says all you need to know about him.

I would rather have the player than the money too Pompeymegafan, but I can understand why he wants to go.

From the team point of view, if we have to sell to bring others in, this is a much better option than selling five or six squad players as some were advocating on here a few days ago!

If HR has to sell to buy then a midfield player is the obvious area to sell - we have a few there. OK we might have preferred to see someone else go but if there are no sizeable bids for other players then you have to decide if this is the best option.
Good player and had a good input last year but not a Diarra by any means.
Just hope we get value for money on the next one in - 12m for SWP does sound a great deal to me. We got 4m for GoN and I dont put SWP 300% better than Gary.

I am slighted gutted to see him leave as he is a young centre mid who although performed sporadically last year, i thought had alot of potential. Nonetheless it's a good profit and it's in an area of the team where we are very healthy so can afford to let him go and with that money we can hopefully strengthen our wide areas and our left back.

at the end of the day, good bit of business Harry.

On another note, I am slightly surprised Jose has gone for him, but good luck to the lad.

I've just been thinking. If Muntari is sold for just under 13 million just think how much Diarra will be worth after one or 2 more years?! I don't want the guy to leave no way, but he is so much better than Sulley, we must be looking at a 20mill sum if he keeps progressing the way he has.

Hmm, I am surprised at this one and I hope Harry has something up his sleeve for a replacement. As for profit, I suspect he had a sell-on clause so much of it will go to his previous club.

Mind you, looking around the only place I can find this story is in the Italian media and BBC news. I would have expected it to be everywhere if he was about to sign on the dotted line.

Liverpool fan here.

I want to know why we are battling in vain to sign Gareth Barry for 18mil when a player just as good with the potential to be even better is only 23 yrs old gets sold for 12.7mil.

Why didn't we sign him? I think he's a brilliant player with an great work rate and an unbelievable strike on him. Barry's a good player but doesn't have the years on him to get even better, Muntari and Masch would have been a formidable partnership.

The reason Barry costs more and in no way is a better player than Muntari is because he plays for England..simple as that. The English media dictates that because they are England regulars they are worth crazy money.

james

lauren
campbell
distin
johnson

(hreidarsson)

Diarra
Diop
Kranja
Uttaka
(songo'o, davis, mendes, mveumba)

Crouch
Defoe

(kanu, baros, nugant)

they still have a good side and have just made 13 million so they can afford to do a bit more shopping

I wouldn't be surprised if Harry sacrificed a good player to bring in someone he thought was better - look at Benjani/Defoe in January.

Still, makes me sad after all the talk of keeping our best players. I honestly believed Muntari would light up the Prem next season.

I just hope (against hope) that Harry has another Defoe/Benjani coup lined up.

Utaka-Diarra-Muntari(Mendes)-Kranjcar

Defoe-Crouch

Ashdown
Lauren
Wilson
Davis
Mvuemba
Nugent

People need to realise that all of our players were solely being funded by sasha, we hardly have any revenue until our new ground. In which case I think it is perfectly understandable that sasha has probably said that we need to balance the books to an extent with come transfer fees coming in. Harry has seen where we are strongest and where he can get the most money without being too detrimental to the make-up of the side.

This way he now has significant fund to strengthen up weaker areas of the side.

Well done Harry.

Stevie, Stevie, Stevie..

Thanks for the comments above, however your opinion on young Diarra is not thought out very well. The lad was never given a chance at Arsenal, depite being promised that. And Chelsea had a wealth of centre mids..

He was a revalation for us last season. One of the most talented players to ever wear a Pompey jersey.

Rather than rant at you though, do me a favour and watch him in a couple of sky matches next season. Then you'll see what all the fuss is about...

This suggests the Manager has seen something very special about him.People made similar comments about Micheal Essien when he was signed by Jose only for them to eat their words later.Gr8 business Harry, but a huge loss of human resource.
