1840: And look who's back in action! Howard Webb has been given the honour of refereeing Greece v Spain which is a… completely meaningless game. Never mind eh Howard? Come on England.

---------------------------------------------
acutlaly it is meaningful cheesy
becuase if spain lose by two or three
and sweden win by 3 or 4
sweden go first and spain second!!!!

I would just love sweden to win euro 2008. of all of the second tier teams (greece, russia, sweden, romania, turkey...) they play the most attractive and attacking football.

Do you think Henrick will retire soon oer will he play until the end of time? He could you know

Actually I fancy Spain-Greece to be an open, attacking game. Spain may have put out a second string but it's hardly Austria is it? Fabregas, Iniesta, and Greece are playing for their pride.

Sweden - attractive football? No! Have to agree with khadrim - we need Russia to win. Sweden are not quite as bad as Greece, but they just sit back and try to counter attack - which they are not very good at. I'm all for a 'small' country winning, but not with boring football please.

Resolute defence by Greeks against a superior foe does not surprise students of history. In 480 BC at Thermopylae, a small Greek force held off the full might of the Persian empire, then the world superpower. See Wikipedia. Though they lost the first round, that gave time for a full defence in the decisive battle, which they won. The same strategy worked for them in 2004, but not this year.

The wiley Hiddink will know his tactics spurned on by the fact they have to win. The Swedes might get complacent with the premise that a draw will do. Russia do win!

"Do you think tonight will be the night Cesc Fabregas is allowed to shine?"

Cesc doesn't get a game for Spain because he has failed to perform for the national team in most of his appearances. Just because he plays for Arsenal in the EPL doesn't mean that he should automatically play! Plus the players ahead of him are pretty good players too!
