I think Ronnie will want to make up for the rather poor performance in yesterday's second session.

I think 11-5 will turn into 18-7. Nobody has won more than 7 frames against Ronnie and although this is a much longer frame-wise, I don't think he'll let Carter win more than that as it's Ronnie's favourite number as well.

I wouldn't have said Ronnie was that poor yesterday. He just wasn't QUITE so scintillating as against Hendry and Williams.

I think Carter has done very well to get here, but he's a bit like Cardiff in the Cup Final. Everyone's pleased that he made it, but unsure of how much resistance he has left to put up.
Shocks are great for a while, but when the final is a poorer spectacle, one can easily be left wondering whether a bigger name player would have put up more of a fight.

Hard to resist that thought, but the truth is Ronnie would prolly have wiped the floor with anyone this Championship.

Just been in the snooker writers' annual meeting.

Hope all you guys are looking forward to the final two (or one) sessions of the tournament.

CantonasCollar - Carter is a bit like Cardiff, except I can see Cardiff beating Portsmouth.

The snooker writers annual meeting.....or SWAM for short, I guess. Sounds fun.

I wish you were right about Cardiff, because I think Pompey were dead lucky to deny us a shot at the second Treble. But I can see a Pompey 1-0 coming... sadface

I hope for Ali's sake he can get this to the final session. He has been great all week and will take confidence from this and possibly win a tournament next season. ok

Talking about next season, Saj do you know when the calendar comes out? is there any events being added? smiley

Case_12 - I 'll try to find out for you. I'm not too sure whether there will be any more ranking events added. But with World Snooker, you never know.

I just went upstairs to chat to John Parrott in the Champions' Lounge (which isn't just full of champions). Huw Edwards of BBC News was there. I said "hello" to him, which was lovely.

that could have been a crushing blow for Carter; he really needed a good start today...but as i type, Ronnie's let him back in.

Ali must make this 11-6 in my opinion.

In a bid to not ignore my partner for the duration of the crucible, I have patiently sat with him and found it quite interesting, I think that someone with such natural flair as Ronnie deserves another win, even if he does show off for being ambidextrous.

I do have a burning question...
If Ronnie was to get another 147, would he get 2/3 or is it split equally by the competitors?

And re your Essex comment, it's never had to be said, we don't admit it... winkeye

I don't see any way how Carter can win this now. He really needed to take the opportunities that presented themselves to him in the 17th.

--------------------------

MacLeod1808, as far as i'm aware, another 147 wouldn't make any difference in the prize-money stakes, it'd still be split equally between them... possibly why we saw Ronnie eschew a 147 chance last night in order to make sure he won the frame!

in terms of the match now, it's surely game over after the chances Ali had in that last frame. Ronnie's cantering to the finish line without having to find anywhere near his best form at the moment- it must be so frustrating for Carter that Ronnie's playing his worst snooker of the tournament, but he can't seem to make any impact on the scoreboard!

That's all she wrote, 14 - 6 in front. What are the chances that Ronnie gets the wind up and bleets through the last mini session 4 nil and no evening session. This could be over in a matter of 90 mins or so.

A let-off for Ali. Hendry must be wondering what he did wrong to get O'Sullivan in that kind of form!

It's continuing much as it finished yesterday evening. Lots of mistakes, frames there for the taking. If Carter could hold his nerve and really get his fluency going he'd have a chance of reeling off a few frames in a row.

Stuttering stuff at the moment from both players.

For the last 30 years, the usual commentators had a normal rate of delivery, which makes it easy for someone with hearing difficulties (such as myself) to follow the commentary. Who is John Virgo's rapid-fire partner? Can he be replaced?

Have just seen the shot compilation on the beeb and i must disagree that Ronnie won, granted it was an amazing shot, but i cant see past that fantastic blue from Niel Robertson.

i loved the commentary for Joe Perry's pink: 'i think he's going to refuse the pot here...'

Robertson's blue was spectacular, but he didn't get any position on the next red!

The commentary on the Perry pink was indeed very funny astral, and that was also a big pot in the contextt of a match. Not everything has to go to Ronnie Supergunners, other players make also excellent shots.

About if another 147 should appear: It was announced by the eurosport presenter here in finland that they had run this question by the head of the tournament, and apparently the maximum break pot will be split in 1/3 & 2/3 ratio, should Carter or O'Sullivan be able to shoot yet another maximum. Ronnie currently simply seems rather more focused on taking home the title than doing anything secondary besides it.

Great long red from Carter - there's a jinxy (probably not a wrord) thing about being 14-something up at The Crucible.
Maybe we'll call it the '14-frame itch'.

How do you get a job with the BBC covering snooker or any sport?

I go university but don't study Journalism you see....

Also what's the atmosphere like in the Crucible?

I'm pretty sure everyone (like me) wants Ronnie to win, but they also want Ali to put up a fight?
