Good signing if it goes through, will put pressure on Davies and Elmander to keep there places

I'm not overkeen on this signing. There's no doubt that Sturridge is a decent striker but we already have Elmander, Davies, Klasnic and the youngster Tom Eaves, who everybody was raving about when we signed him yet can't get a game for love nor money.
We were desperate for a centre half and Wheater is a great signing as he proved on Saturday with a solid display and near matchwinner. I've always found Cahill a touch overrated as in the games I've been to this season, Zat Knight has been doing most of the spadework.
It's central midfielders we need because when Stuart Holden is missing we don't have anyone good enough to cover. Mark Davies either runs with the ball until he gets tackled or chases shadows. Tamir Cohen has never really delivered and Sean Davis can't get fit. Vela from Arsenal would have slipped in nicely. Why he settled for a season of struggle with West Brom is a mystery.
We also need to get some of that steel back as it's getting a bit too tippy tappy at times.
A win against Wolves will get us right back on track and all in all, it's been a much better season after three pustulent years with Mugson and Coyle's signings have been very astute so far.

Loan signings can be great for 2 reasons.

1. We are in the mire in January and desperate for bodies.

2. We're taking a look a future signing.

We're not in the mire yet and when players like Eaves, Ward & Connelly are not given bench places, I get a little nervous about it.

A good move all round.

I'd expect him to score plenty of goals for Bolton, and then return to the Bridge in the summer ready to step up into a more prominent role.

I've got every confidence that the boy will be a top class player.

You're joking ..right? If Sturridge comes to Bolton, he'll be first choice up front ..Klasnic can't manage more than half an hour, and a rookie like Tom Eaves should be going on on loan to a League 1/2 club for 1st team experience ...is isn't gonna happen in the Prem ...

First Of The Gang.
Sturridge won't be first choice, Coyle would play Davies and Elmander if their legs were hanging off. you know as well as I do he'll only see action when we're losing with 5 minutes to go.
Why move heaven and earth to sign Eaves and then just loan him out?
It defies all logic. We could have saved the money and put it towards the Vela loan.

Sturridge wouldn't be here if OC hadn't promised him a good run of games, that's for sure ..

Eaves cost about 10 bob (hardly ' heaven n' earth ') and he's perhaps one for the long term, but wouldn't cut it now .. Another cert ...

I'd much rather have Sturridge than Vela ..at least the lad wants to be here ... Vela and his agent just wanted money -not the sort of player that's needed here, especially when we're strugglin'...

Hope you're right about Sturridge. I'm slightly skeptical as we've had some so called big shots that never quite delivered and were only used in dispatches like Jardel and Borgetti.
If he fires in the winner against Wolves tonight I'll bow to your better judgement pal.
Still wish Coyle had bagged us a decent midfielder though.
