Is There A Plan In Place For Our Youth?

Premier League Chelsea

comment on the article

A few days ago i made an article about our partnerships with Vitesse & Maribor, with Maribor we have first choice options on there finest young talent and in return they can recieve our youngsters on loan, as well them now being a bit more known due to our affiliation.

Likewise with Vitesse, but that's more of a team for us to send players on loan for first team experience.

Now a lot of rumours recently have said that there will be a "mass exodus" from Chelsea in the summer, with our older players that are no longer needed being sold, and youth players being brought in, with names like Neymar,Lukaku,Marin etc all being mentioned, that along with our own youth players ofcorse. Also a lot of rumours suggesting that we would be signing some young players and loaning them to Vitesse & Maribor to groom them to come back to Chelsea to be put into the first team.

Whether or not it happens or not is entirely different, but with a lot of our youngsters now even being sent out on lona, even ones who have the potential now to be regular squad members such as Van Aanholt,Matic,Bertrand,Kakuta, throw Delac and Kalas into that as well, is there a plan being set in place for our better youth players to get as much first team action as possible before next season, which could see a lot of them becoming first team regulars?

Like i said...bit of a long shot opinion, but we do have a lot of youngsters out on loan now who are probably good enough to be regular squad members (not to be mixed up with regular starters lol)

P.S , Carlo has said that Luiz is the only player there trying to sign, so will that be us done in this transfer window until the summer? Or is he just playing the media along?

Loan signings can be a good thing but not always, look at this article.

An amazing player not given his chance because he doesn't pass the ball backwards and sideways like most midfielders in the premiership and offers something a little different. Dare I say exciting attacking play.
Mark Hughes probably isn't the best man to help his career either. Get out of town kakuta and save your career.

Hmm, unsure if I really like this or not. Kakuta hasn't played as well for Chelsea, in his limited chances, as he apparently did in the youth international tournament last summer.

Just don't know if Fulham is the right place for him to perform though.

Hope I'm proved wrong and he comes back to us for next season, settles down and plays to what appears to be excellent potential.

I think it will take more than a loan spell at Fulham for Kakuta to become good enough to play in the Chelsea first team. After the initial hype when he signed he hasn't shown anything in the limited opportunities hes had.

Agree with all these comments.
If Carlo really thinks Kalou should be ahead of Kakuta (and Sturridge) in the pecking order then something must be seriously wrong with the younger lads.

Response to original post - I certainly hope so. I hope they're not going to be pushed aside by another rash of new faces.

Thrilled by Luiz signing (if confirmed) A great boost for the long term project to replace the old guard at the back. But I hope that's the only signing for now.

What a great week! Stuffed Arsenal in the Youth cup, ruined Bolton's 'Respect to Nat' night, picked up Luiz!

One one-hundred-weight.

Chelsea's problem all season has been that they've had absolutly no replacements for when theres an injury to the starting 11.
Exception maybe for Kalou and Remieres... but even then it's not exactly a like for like swap with Lampard and Drogba is it?

This is a good decision by Chelsea, (not been many recently) get the young players out acctually playing football... then they come back with experience.
Players like Kakuta and Van Houlton don't seriously have a chance in being in Chelsea's starting 11 at the moment... like Joe Hart... he had no chance of being picked over Shay Given, so went to Birmingham - was awesome - now is Man City's No.1.

Given how thin on the ground we are, it says to me that Carlo and the club have a few things up their sleeves for the next week. They surely wouldn't have let Kakuta and PVA leave without having replacements earmarked (unless he adds someone like Bertrand to the squad).
