Jermaine Jones

Premier League Blackburn Rovers
comment on the article

hello blackburn fans

as you can see by my name im a newcastle fan howevr i am representing my services as a schalke fan, they are my second team and you are keen (no pun intended) on our centre midfielder jermaine jones- a player who has represented both germany and now usa.
as a person who watches schalke reguarly i think i am entitled to give you my opinion of him.
Overall very good player box to box, happy to sit back plays short simple passes quick and strong and can put in a mean tackle (hes been sent off a few times for over the top tackles)- the main problem is he is injury prone, over the last few years his seasons have been descimated by injuries and we have hardly seen him play 5 games on the bounce because hes seem to pick up a knock here and there. So i fear he may also be the same but i think if he gets on the pitch he will be a very good signing, was very popular with the schalke fans shame to see him go, but luckily we have joel matip who looks promising

good luck to the rest of the season except against newcastle

E.Diouf has an apparent attitude problem and disrupts dressing rooms and no Manager can control him...

...He has been great for us and is a team player and a great guy in the squad.

We can only judge Jones on how he plays and how he gets on with the other players.

Regardless of him time at Schalke this team with Santa Cruz on the bench is probably the best starting XI I've seen all season.

---------Robinson
Salgado Samba Nelsen Givet
Hoilett Jones Pedersen Olsson
-----Kalinic M.Diouf

"Sportivo"
Keen wouldn't do it either !!!
yes, jones had lots of problems in accepting and keeping discipline on board, during games and during training sessions and saying that, schalke manager felix magath wants die-hard discipline and committment but players like jones does their own thing. when i mean, he's like germans joey barton, well joey barton got pride after all and jones hasn't got even that. ...

If he contributes, its better than nothing, as we lack in midfield at the moment, and if he does become a distraction, we ship him back to his club and move on.

It will either work or it wont, rather judge him on his time at Blackburn rather than his past.

Now we have him,
we can pay another club to take Keith Andrews :)

I miss kieth Andrews :(

But where in the world is N'zonzi? he was meant to be coming back form injury for about 2 months now and yet there seems to be nothing of him.

On a Jones note, isn't he like 30? sure its a good short term replacement but often defensive or box to box players have a short expiration date than you Tugays and Huddlestones. But considering we have the likes of Lowe and N'zonzi finally pushing through in CM is he merely a stop gap until until these two mature - Another one to be added to Andrews (30), Grella (31), Emerton (31), Dunn (31) and Pedersen (29) - We are going to lose pretty much our entire central midfield at about the same time, we've really not planned well here.

Personally I think planning well is a bit of a waste of time in football, just as getting overly excited about youth is. Football is such a rapidly changing sport personel-wise that entire sides can change in the majority 2-3 seasons. As a manager I would never bother to think more than 1-2 seasons ahead.

True, but people thinking like that is the reason theres so few quality young English players being given a chance in the 1st team. Which then has an affect on are national team.
