Bell- In this form, should he bat no5?

Bell has been in terrific form. I feel that he could bat no5 at the moment. Colly is not so good at the moment and might be better at no6.

I'd probably resist the temptation of moving him up the order any further because his record does not suggest he does so well. That being said, I don't think he fears this Aus attack like the one last time in Oz. And the conditions in Eng 09 were much more bowler friendly.

I suspect that the only bowler he really has to be careful with is Johnson because of the left handers angles. His technique is so good that he has a very good chance against conventional right handers.

It is ludicrous to play Bell at 6, esp somebody of his class. Collingwood should be dropped and Eoin Morgan given a chance, afterall Morgan can't really do any worse can he? Who cares if Colly took a wicket, he's not in the side to take wickets, his primary role is to score runs which he has failed to do!

It's all very well getting 200 runs in one test and hardly any runs in the next test to me England have not got consistency some of their batting reminds me of village green stuff their footwork does not exist, some of the balls could have been left. The Aussies will win this series England are not as good as they think they are

In Austrailia you need 4 seamers and a spinner. Because of the god like status of swan he is an automatic choice. If we had had Bresnan for Swan and Morgan for Collingwood we would not be in this position. Swan should only play if it is a turning wicket this wicket does not require a spinner never has. Why are we losing our seam bowlers are knackered we needed 4 Collingwood is dragging down the middle order into the dirt. We should as history tells us not play a spinner at Perth no matter how good we think he is.

It's our batting that's been the problem in this match, not our bowling doh

Thats why it wouldnt surprise me to see Bresnan come in for Finn in the next test, bolster the batting line up and more than likely wont go at 6 an over. Finn is only 21 so fitness in these conditions must be a concern for the England management with him. I also reckon Moggy will come in for Colly although i reckon that will probably happen at Sydney unless Colly makes a score in Melbourne, with Moggy having an extended run next summer.

It is time Colly was replaced. Yes he is still a top slip & gully fielder' but only contributes with the ball as a 'last resort' to go to to try and end a partnership....Pieterson can do that. For the past few years Colly has always produced an innings out of the hat just at the time when he comes under pressure for being dropped and then its back to a run of poor scores. Bell is the ideal man for No 5 and Morgan should be given a chance at No 6. He can't do no worse than Colly. Against quicks Colly backs into his crease and hangs his bat out far too often! If we lose early wickets; you know Collys the weak link in the middle. He will then go totally defensive and it is just a matter of time.We need more consistent scores of 50+ from our No 5.

Just two more test to play, please don't panic, Just play as normal, Bell more than normal and not to through his wicket having gone past 75 like he did at Bristbern, try occupied no matter with the head or tail, remember its hard without Flintoff & Broad you need Kingwood at his best, no sloppy shots in the slips, the slate is still Blank

I'm virtually unable to read portions of oldmember's post. Does anyone else have that problem too?

Are people typing these posts on their mobiles in the dark?
