More than possible.

If we go into this clash with Barcelona expecting to lose we are undoubtably going to get nothing from it other than a complete and utter thrashing.

If we go into to this game with our strongest team, a bit of passion, some determination and no fear whatsoever of facing Barecelona... I think we might just suprise an awful lot of people.

MU and Barca fan in peace. I say the following primarily as a fan of football.

I really hope that Fabergas and RVP are fit for both games. Then it promises to be a footballing spectacle of the highest calibre.

Well said. I'd love to see Wenger go for really fast, counter-attacking play, and at the same time focus on really strong defence. I really don't think this is a walk-over for Barcelona.

Depressing to read some of the incredibly defeatis Arsenal supporters - you expect fans from other teams to say they have no chance, but how can you support a top team and write them off against anyone?

Evra got a lot of stick from Arsenal fans, yet he said that Arsenal can beat anyone; he clearly has more faith than some (I doubt it is the majority) of Arsenal fans.

If United come up against Barcelona, I will certainly believe we can beat them; I think Spurs copuld beat them too.

Interesting that the FinkTank in today's Times (they analyse all the stats in a very comprehensive way) suggest that Chelsea are favourites for the CL (partly because they have Copenhagen), United second favourites, and Barcelona only third favourites. They do this analysing all results and performances over the whole season. Arsenal they say have a 40 per cent chance of beating Barcelona.

-----------------------------------------------

Stats are interesting C2G but they never tell the whole story. Teams creating many chances but not winning. Individual players scoring 20 goals a season but ending with no trophy to show for it. It's also about WHEN these teams and individual players perform well that counts, no point creating a million chances when it doesn't count. Players and teams who perform well and win the games that matter no matter what the stats say, now that is what counts.

Like you I think Utd have a major chance, time and time again they have been there done it when necessary. No one in their right mind would say they have played their best this season but they are topof the PL because they have done whats necessary at the right time.

I also agree about the Arsenal although I think the're probably 2/3 players short of being a team capable of going all the way. They lack a powerhouse midfielder in the Keane/Viera mould. An organiser in defence wouldn't go amiss either because at times their all over the place.

Can Utd beat Barca? It may not be pretty pretty football but if they played I'd give Utd a major chance because they know what it takes and have shown before that they can beat them when it counts.

Well, I certainly wasn't suggesting that stats tell the whole story, and, frankly, I often find the Finktank claims ridiculous.

I was really just pointing out that there is evidence that Barcelona are not exactly certainties. People do seem to forget that Inter beat them, Chelsea should have, and that two years ago United beat them.

I think Arsenal should be positive and go for it; Barcelona lost at home in Spain this year, after all!

Arsenal will become a laughing stock.

One thing for sure everyone expected this draw .
i laughed when arsenal got barca because as an arsenal fan i wouldnít expect anything but a humiliating defeat by arsenal i think then every true arsenal fan who backed AW through all these trophy less seasons will come to realise that his time is up, personally he should have gone few seasons ago simply because of his stubbornness no signing world class goalie, CB, DM and a CF, t o win trophies u need a strong spine which arsenal donít have at the moment. Average goalie, terrible defenders who are scared of physicality except sagna, average midfielders apart from Fabregas and nasri, and strikers who cant arenít clinical enough chamak against (man u)and who canít shoot from long range. All we hear from AW every year is we are mature enough to win the league he is absolutely wrong u play the big 2 man u and Chelsea 11times lose 10 and draw 1, awful record.
I keep saying that unless he signs World Class players in these positions in the summer, Iím sad to say but will be struggling to finish in top 6.
Thatís why i think we wonít win the league or Cl for the next 10 years. Year by year no trophies will result in star players only 2 departing for clubs who can compete for trophies.
About the knockout against barca, i thing no matter how good we perform against them the way their playing i thing we will lose 4 nil home and away aggregate score 8-0 because they are coming up against a very ,very poor team in arsenal, barca have strengthen year in year out where as arsenal have done nothing, getting players who are not good enough. barca are weak in defence but the only team that can exploit them is chelsea because they are solid in defence and clinical in attack, but if arsenal do attack i think the score will be even bigger. barca will pick them up and finish them off. That was proven in the first game where arsenal could have been dead and buried in the first half if not for almunui saves, ironically he cost arsenal the game with 2 blunders.

Really sorry, but couldn't help laughing - just seen that Wenger has strengthened then team by signing yet another medium height creative, clever midfielders. Just what Arsenal needs.

montegooner why let the facts get in the way of a snide remark?

We have won it a few times but usually at the same time as winning other, major, trophies.

How many of them have you won in tha last five years?

Yep...we signed a High School player from Japan and who said Wenger wouldn't strengthen our side. Way to go AW. ( I'm happy for the kid and truly wish him success here) This should get the Man U fans singing their chant again!
Re: Barcelona...i agree with the other poster who said it may be a blessing in disguise. We get to see them twice but in reality it should unclog any late season fixture dates. Ask yourselves....how many of our team would make the Barcelona team....one... because they want him...possibly...just possibly ...two.
How many of Barcelona would make our team...including their bench? See what i mean.
Of course we wouldn't be playing them if Wenger hadn't thought first place was in the bag and didn't play our strongest teams in two matches...anyway it's Barca....we should enjoy iy and hope for the best. When i think of Messi and co. against Kosh and Squeal.....ouch!
Mourinho would change tactics and give Barca real problems....Wenger can't...simple as that.
