Lucky to get a point

That's the unfortunate truth. Wigan really should've beaten us there. There was a 5 - 10 minute spell after the goal when we played some tidy stuff but then it was back to that all to familiar scenario of everyone refusing to take responsibility and waiting for Torres to pull off another miracle. Too deep and too narrow. We were outpaced, outmuscled and outplayed.

I keep thinking of the saying "the right tool for the right job". Meireles is not a wide player and it showed, neither is his replacement Shelvey, who looked very nervous. We then take off Dirk and replace him with another centre mid. Then we bring on Eccleston (striker) and play him out wide. Baffling.

Gerrard showed flashes but was largely ineffective. Lucas was very poor (despite some people believing he's bullet proof). Kelly looked nervous, Carra looked leggy. Bizzarely, Maxi was one of the better players for us. Of course this meant that Roy had to take him off. I'll take a point but the performance was alarming. A bucket of cold water after Sunday.

If the Pool had won this they would have been in 5th place. Didnt seem possible a couple of weeks ago. Im sure the dissapointment of tonights result wont keep many fans down, things are looking good now.

Four words to encapsulate Liverpool's season, Hodgson's sorry, continued tenure at this great club and my absolute frustration: 'POULSON ON FOR KUYT'.

Ngog has been effective, he's on the bench, you want to take off Kuyt ... and on comes Poulsen ... jeez ... still Gerrard had an excellent chance and hit the bar and we'd be fifth ... N'zogbia showed what a wide player should and can do ... we have no wide players ... why?

This is where my arguement about Aquilani & Insua comes to head.

If Roy had used the money he spent on Poulson, to retain Insua & Aqiulani we would be in a much better position.

You have to ask why Poulson was bought by hodgson, because we had so many players who can fit into that position.

you also have to question his understanding of the players, because if he is using the excuse that the players were tired, and we aparrently did so well against Napoli (who he stated is a top team), then why didnt he play the team who went out against Napoli?

We should be making a move for Newcastle striker Andy Carrol.

Last night was a shocker. Good for the first twenty minutes & terrible for the next 70. The passing, and therefore the ball retention, was woeful. I'd say that was the worst we've been this season so I'm grateful for the point.

Like previous posters have said it was nice seeing youngsters given a go but Eccleston & Shelvey don't look near 1st team standard yet.

Not looking forward to Stoke. If we play like that we'll get beaten easily.

You cant say the new guys look poor when you put them in a team not performing, I reckon either would lok half decent in a teams that play well anc can actually pass a ball, Shelvey tried to get some forward passes through and lost, he tried, everyone else passed backwards, I swear if I see another ball won in midfield only to be passed immediately backwards I will crack, RH should ban passing backwards at training for a few weeks, also anyone notice we cant seem to create simple passing triangles, the movement stops after 2 passes, ridiculous, Wigam were there for the taking after 70 mins for a passing team, they were spent after their efforts, thats why poulsen came on, to free gerard and it nearly paid off, numpties only are the ones who cxant understand why poulsen was put on
