Danny Simpson

Premier League Newcastle United
comment on the article

Thought he was awesome today. REad the game well, tackled well, passed well. One mistake, which the immovable Colocini mopped up, otherwise I thought he was magnificent.

Coloccini was immense for Newcastle today along with Simpson.. Tiote is proving to be a great buy and Newcastle just deserve the win today.

12 corners, upteen chances on goal, most of the possesion and still nothing. The passing was awful today. Fab was on another planet. Everything seemed rushed and we weren't controlling the tempo of the game at all. To be fair, untill the goal I thought we would win it, because it was all us for most of the first half. Why we resorted to playing a long ball everytime in the last 20 mins is beyond me. We've got the players to do the technical work yet none of them utilised their abilities. Fantastic defensive performance from Newcastle. We came close to equalising but the finishing wasn't up to scratch and the whole Newcastle team were so disciplined and never gave up. Deserved win. The lads need a serious kick up the arse.

Laurent Koscielny is some joker. We had lost the game and he gets himself banned for three games. I would fine him 3 weeks wages. Totally stupid when there was no certaint of a goal being conceded. Oh well, we have Dj back to replace hime. Wolves away. Lucky to get a draw with a defective back line and a goalie whose confidence can only have been dented by todays blunder

he's banned for one game.

he's looked decent but at times gets done for pace. i also thought a red was harsh but it didnt affect the game and it was a tight call

i agree that we used too many longballs in the last 20 minutes. we created 3 great chances all game. not good enough.

Sad to say, but this Arsenal team is pathetic. Start with the goalkeeper (both are useless) and move down the line-up and they are fairly weak. Arshavin looks totally lost, maybe homesick? Let him go. Get some people that can stick the ball in the net!

Arsene, maybe it's time to say "Farewell"?

Newcastle had 51% of the possession so I don't know why you think Arsenal had most of it.

Impressive performance by the lads today, I hope we can keep it up for the rest of the season! I would still be happy with 17th place. Hard to choose a MoM, but Simpson was awesome(part from 1 or 2 mishaps).

some real knee jerks in this thread.

also newcastle had as much of the ball as us. the fact that this happened proves something was wrong with us in terms of effort today. a laco of pressing and passing quality really set the tone for us today.

i dont think anyone wouldve argued that a adraw wouldve been unfair on us but we cant whine. we created very little and it's not as if it was down to newcastle bullying us. we were just not up for it on the day. and it is this mentality that will along with the fact we are not on chelseas level that will cost us a chance of winning the title

I know it says that on the bbc website. But I was watching the game and we definitely had more of the ball. I'm not taking anything away from Newcastle. They were great and deserved to win. But I think those possesion stats are a bit off. I dunno, maybe I'm just being biased, but it seemed that way <ok>

newcastle had one chance and took it. Arsenal had several opportunities and insisted in playing one more pass and always a bad one. Newcastle deserved to win because they wanted it, the Arsenal played as though it was their "right" to win it

I thought Toon played really well and out-thought and out-gunned the gunners. I was shocked though by how biased the MOTD2 highlights were. It was made to look like Arsenal were unlucky, had all the possession and chances and Newcastle did a smash and grab. Shouldn't expect any more from southern based media really...
