Rooney has been sent to Oregon for a one week boot camp. Designing new boots, getting match fit and warm weather altitude training.

How serious is the ankle injury that he has to fly over to the USA? Rooney said before that he has no injury. I guess SAF does not trust what Rooney is saying and is making sure that the ankle is 100% before he plays him again.

They don't need him at the moment and the rest may be good for him, the hope is we will see what he's made of when he comes back. Oregon is puzzling, would have thought a warmer climate would have suited more.

I'm an old lady Yankee and I'm surprised no one's discussed the flying time involved and the time difference. I Orbitzed Manchester-Portland Int'l Airport: the shortest trip out is 15h 50 min and 16 hrs 35 min return (incl. connections; no direct flights). Add on customs and the commute time (PDX is ne of P'land; Beavertown in sw)for an additional 1 1/2--2 hrs each way. This leaves maybe 5 days for conditioning; not tons of time in my book.
Second, Portland will be 8 hours being UK time as of Sunday when our clocks fall back. At an hour a day acclimating to the change, that puts Rooney just about on Pac Std Time when he has to go back to the UK. He'll need to spend the next week getting back on your time. Doesn't make sense to me.

Dear Colleen,

Don't forget there is this thing called¡°chastity belt for men".

And don't forget there're lots of Miss Jennifer Thompsons, a.k.a. ladies of the night, in the US of A.

Make Shrek wear a chastity belt when he is yonder and you will feel a lot safer, and to boot there may be the fringe benefit that someday you may get to endorse them for the manufacturer of the belts.

However, recalling Shrek's occasional penchants for ¡°threesomes¡±, I know not what you can do to prevent him from getting naughty with his gob, though ¨C since, unfortunately, so far as I know, there's no 'gob type¡¯yet.

Yours truly,

Chuck

Mike Phelan says Rooney needs to work on his conditioning, you can say that again. I assume while he's working on sorting out the injury he'll also be working off the pounds in weight he's no doubt put on by stuffing his face with 'gourmet' chicken nuggets at however much a pop.

i think this is brilliant. sign a new deal for £ 250k per week then pull a sickie for the next 6 weeks. he's already been away to dubai - which i'm assuming he paid for - and now united pay for him to have another week in the USA. nice work if you can get it!!

Is this rehab for his ankle, or something else?

Pull the other one!!
So Rooney has gone all the way to the States because of his ankle? Never! More like psychological therapy?
Rooney is on his way out of Man United I predict - his days are done at Old Trafford - he is also a very expensive overhead and they need to offload him in January.
Do they need him? Not at the moment for sure!
