Anelka....

Champions League Chelsea
comment on the article

For those who were worried about Anelka, I think you can now put your concerns aside. Yeah maybe he should have two goals, but his goal was well taken and he has been very sharp so far.

KTBFFH

P.s. Zhirkov's goal = Brilliant!!!!!!!!!

We do need another striker, but certainly not Rooney. We need a player who is good, yet will willingly sit on the bench from time to time. I think Podolski is the answer.

A good team performance tonight, we were very composed focused and in control in the first half. To their credit, they closed us down in the second half and used McGeady well. We were a little sloppy but The three youngsters that came on did well enough especially MaEachran who showed great composure and strength. Ancellotti will be happy that we've held it together without Alex, Lamps, Ramires and Drogba and of course Boswinga. No point in complaining, it's all part of the journey.

as a chelsea fan, watching anelka is strange. One minute you watch him tearing your air out at what he's doing, the next min he does something superb

So who is this rampaging goalscoring Zhirkov? surely not the same left back backup for Cole? some strength in depth there

A very good professional performance. Anelka was brilliant, but a lot of credit has to go to the defence. They were awesome, soaking up the pressure at the end, and Cech made a few excellent saves. Terry was dominant as usual, and Brani is one of our players of the season so far. Slightly worried about Cole as he signalled a substitution and we don't have a great long term replacement (Zhirkov isnt a defender) if his recurring injury appears again. A ruthless attack with a very solid defence: and this is without the drog, lamps and Alex. I know its still very early but provided we don't have to rely too heavily on the people who were on the bench today, we could go pretty far in this competition. Come on the chels!

The Blues don't need Rooney, we have a strong in depth squad who can produce magical things this season, including lifting the Champions League at last !

I have read stuff that suggest that Grant did no want to sign him and that he did not like to pick Anelka???

No idea if its true, just what I have read in the past!

anelka is fantastic, its a shame for him though, because i dont think he really gets to play where he wants to (right up top) because dider drogba is even better. If we're going to play 4-3-3 then its not another striker we need, its another full back. A little worried about what cole said in the newspapers today about feeling 40! theres nobody better though
