Congrats to Lorenzo, and of course to Valli, who would have defo won another championship, but for the injury enforced absence. Appriciate it for a year Jorge, Valli on a Ducati next season, no chance.

Lorenzo has had an amazing year, consistently finishing on the podium and is a deserving Champion.

If Rossi had not been injured, I believe the battle for the Championship would still be ongoing. Unfortunately for race fans, Rossi was injured and it seems he was the only racer capable of battling Lorenzo at the front.

Next year Lorenzo holds all the cards at Yamaha and will be going all out to retain the title.
I don't think he'll find things go quite as smoothly for him next year if Rossi can remain fit. biggrin

Wow, some of you really need to follow GP properly or, if you can't manage that, just Google the results !
Lorenzo was only leading Rossi by 2 races to 1 when Rossi crashed out.
Rossi then missed 4 races before coming back from a shattered leg & finishing 4th in Germany.
After that race Jorge won only 2 more races out of 7.
To say Lorenzo would have won the title with Rossi fit for the whole year is pure speculation. Yeah, Jorge was fast but we saw again today and last week what a fit Rossi would have done to him.

OT. I always have a chuckle at Lorenzo's misguided attempts to emulate Rossi's celebrations. Getting his flag wrapped round the chain...LOL ! Schoolboy error smiley

At least it didn't lock the rear wheel and make him crash laugh

Too many factors in the equation to justify the use of the word "defo" (is that a word?) in the OP. I think most people who have watched bike racing for more a week can work that one out.

You can't take it away from Lorenzo he's had a fab season. But it has been slightly dull roll on 2011

lorenzo crashed a lot last year trying to catch Rossi, This year Rossi crashed a lot trying to catch lorenzo, so give lorenzo some credit all you knocking him, rossi would not of fallen of the bike that many times if it was so easy. Lets see what happens next year

Lets face it, this is a fairly hollow World Title for Jorge, even he said he would have preferred Rossi to have been there for the whole season. I doubt if Rossi had been fully fit (Broken Leg & Shoulder) the title outcome would have been the same!!

I see little point in speculating on what might have happened. I would much rather congratulate Jorge on collecting the MotoGP title to go with his 125 and 250 World titles. The only downside to 2010 MotoGP has been the incredible amount of injuries that the majority of riders have had to endure. These same injuries have also robbed the fans of what could have been an absolutely classic year. I'm sure a fully fit Rossi and Pedrosa would have taken the championship fight all the way to the final round. By the way, can you imagine any other sports person making a comeback less than a month after a double compound fracture, incredible.

I think everyone should give the 'what ifs' a miss tbh.

Lorenzo is a deserving World Champion and credit to him for it.

I do agree though that a lot of the races have been dull affairs this year.

Somehow it's just not as interesting when Rossi's not up near the front.
