What a year he has had:

Wins Celtic Manor Wales Open.

Wins US Open.

(The first European U.S. Open winner since Tony Jacklin in 1970 and the first player from the United Kingdom to win a major championship since Paul Lawrie won The Open Championship in 1999)

Pivotal role in Europe reclaiming the Ryder Cup.

BBC Sports Personality of the Year?????????

Can't think of anyone else from other sports that has a stronger claim on this award.

Monty's men must be favourites for the Team of the Year also?

Diggers, I thought you would be bigger than this. To continue your unreasonable views on GMac after he has proved you wrong is sour grapes to say the least.

Remember this quote from yourself just after he won the Wales Open?

".. one of my least favourite players and I personally feel there are many better options than him for the Ryder Cup but there is a long way to go. I reckon he will have to be a pick though time will tell and I think there will be other big names Monty will go for."

And to those who think he is overweight, have you actually seen these guys in real life? Most of them are stick thin and some look ill. GMac is normal.

Diggers - No you're right you didn't say hate, just a strongish dislike!

I hope he wins SPOTY, but I feel he might not. He has certainly shown a lot of bottle this year, just hope in rubs off on some other Brits <ok>

Sorry PDL, Ive no idea why you think I should start to like the guy because he had a good RC? I think that would make me a bit of a hypocrite would it not. Especially when I watched the RC as a neutral really.
Strewth, Ive given my reasons and they are hardly venemous, there is just something about him that annoys me. Im not questioning his golfing ability, rather than put up a post from months ago you could have listed any one of a dozen where I have said I completely underestimated his golfing ability and have said he's proved me totally wrong.
Come on, be fair, we are allowed to have players taht we like and dislike are we not?

Diggers, I can't really see where you're coming from on McDowell. If we're looking at golfers to dislike, my choices would be:

Scott Hoch

Err, that's it, really. Although I'm sure he's a nice chap really. I didn't like his attitude to playing outside the US.

When you jump into every GMac thread and do your "look at me everybody" it does get a bit tedious.

Although I don't quite agree with Diggers dislike, surely he can like who he likes for his reasons. You can't make people like people just because you do. He's already said he has changed his view on his golfing ability and he's right unless he thought he saw a change in the things he didn't like he would be a hypocrite.

Whatever PDL, I've every right to an opinion and I'm not posting them to wind you or anyone else up, you don't have to read my posts after all. Cheers DB, a fair assessment.

You have a right to an opinion but your opinions will cause others to form an opinion of yourself. An educated and well articulated opinion containing negative criticism will still get you credance. On the otherhand, comments like "Please god not G-PRAT" and "he just gets on my wick" tell us all we need to know about the author.

There have been lots of people on here giving much stronger views on the RC than I have, lots of people laying into Rory and McDowell, Ive hardly said anything. You clearly have a chip on your shoulder about me which is probably clear to anyone on here, thats fine, but if you cant handle a bit of banter about a player you clearly adore then I suggest you need to lighten up and get a bit of perspective, hes just a golfer I watch on TV and really dont warm to, thats all.
And by the way, before you think about spouting off about me posting my views on McDowell I would like to point out that it was in fact you who was posting old comments of mine on the subject and asking for a response. Funny that eh.

I think that it is touch and go between the the two macs G and AP, I think that AP McCoy will win it as he has continally been at the top for over 10 years now, and he won the grand national which will give him the housewifes vote
