Well done Monty - you have had to put up with so much critism over the last two years with everything and then even more with your picks but at the end of the day you and your boys won - great result, great advert for golf and great advert for sport .

"great result, great advert for golf and great advert for sport."

I would agree that it was a great result for the European team and that it was a great advert for golf but to say it was a great advert for sport is taking it a bit too far golf is hardly a sport its more of a well paid hobby.

The 3 next venues for the Ryder Cup in the USA are in the upper Midwest, which would be an advantage if it were being played in November. The USA should put the Ryder Cup in Florida, Texas, or Arizona and make the Euros wilt in the heat.

Yes because the European players never get to play in hot places do they? They play in Wales all year!! <doh>

Silly comment! There were 2 Italians and 2 Spanish in the team. Their countries can get pretty hot and many of the team regularly play in US tournaments as well as other hot places over the world such as the Emirates!

Bring it on, I'm sure we can beat your guys on their own turf!

What a fantastic 4 days golf, for some reason the Ryder Cup always delivers, it is the nature of the beast.

But let's put the result in context.

I was cheering the Euros all the way BUT it was very very close. USA won 3 of the 4 sessions, and it was only the hammering in the third that cost them. Also, the Euros were falling to bits in the singles at the end, and luckily USA ran out of holes.

Pros: The play of Lee Westwood in particular was unbelievable. He was the main man without a doubt. Ok so he lost in the singles but his opponent was the best player on the US team.

Luke Donald and Poults were very good influences too and now have a fabulous record.

On the USA side, i was most impressed with Cink and Stricker, and also Rickie Fowler.

Cons: But i was not impressed with some of the over the top antics. The Boom baby shout of Overton springs to mind. Way over the top.

BUT some of the european antics was way over the top too. Just too much fist waving and bromance from GMAC and RMAC. Now and again is ok but every shot?

Also why were the Molinaris thumping their fists so much? They contributed nothing.

Even Ross Fisher got in the act and i must say it did not suit him.

I much preferred the demeanour of Westwood and Donald.

Also i was quietly impressed with a certain Tiger Woods. He has been through a hellish year and has been slated like at no other time. Yet he did not join in with the exuberant celebrations even though he won his first two matches. And look at his calm demeanour during his singles? He was 9 under for the round and completely destroyed his opponent yet at no time was he seen jumping around. That is the Tiger i remember and admired from his early days.

All in all a fantastic ryder cup and very sportsmanlike between the two captains, lots of mutual respect there. Corey did not do an awful lot wrong. Look at his captains picks? They all delivered. Unlike Monty whos Paddy pick completely failed him. Casey should have been in there.

With reference to fist pumping , the most vigourous has always been Tiger Woods, especially after a long putt.
Wait until the Europeans go over to the US .
If you think Euros are boisterous , nothing compared to to the Yanks.

Also gamesmanship, Cink and his sandwich delay etc, Recall the shouts while Monty was playing in US . like when in sand trap , shouts of watch him miss it etc.
No the exuberance of all esp the two Paddies was quite in order.
Both played like the champions they in fact are and Graeme holding on at end to deliver the final blow , outstanding , well done lads one and all.

TM4G... Well said. Excellent performances all round, great sporting spectacle and congrats to Europe.
Still can't stand Monty but he came through on this one and all credit to him for that.
ALL 24 players did their part. Looking forward to 2012.

Would like to know how Paddy completely failed Monty seeing as he got 2 points out of 4 and got more than one of his other picks ?

I agree wih the comment regarding Casey, but have to admit that I would only ever have raised it as a criticism had Europe lost. No Captain or Manager in any sport should be criticised for picking a winning team, even if they squeak through by the narrowest of possible margins, that's why we all love sport so much....the drama, the thrill, the contest and the superb skills of the players under the most incredible amount of pressure, it's awesome! The Ryder Cup is legendary.
