Should Beckham play in Europe?

by Jamie Lillywhite (U1647523) 29 September 2010
comment on the article

David Beckham has revealed he is unlikely to play in Europe this season, choosing instead to concentrate on regaining full fitness in America after his Achilles tendon injury.

Do you agree with his decision? Do you think he needs to play in Europe to put himself in contention for an England place?

Would you have him in your England squad?

Please send in your thoughts.

The injury that he sustained (especially at his age ) will ensure that he doesn't play at the top level again. He is nowhere near to full fitness and will probably struggle to cope in the MLS now.

I think the man deserves a bit of respect. OK so he's a bit of a media whore and were all a bit tired of looking a him, all fair and true.

That said, think of if you can, his worse performance in an England shirt and compare that to the performances of the present lot in South Africa. It's all too easy to sl@g Becks off but when you look at the current group of players... who's going to replace him ? Walcott ?? not even worthy of a plane ticket to SA, Milner ?? So shocking against the US Fabio hauled him off after 30 minutes, Wright-Phillips laughlaugh

Beckham isn't a media whore. It's not his fault any movement he makes gets reported on.

What are you implying, he invites journalists to his house and makes them write stories about him?

I can see why people clearly dislike Becham, what with his proffesionalism, his lack of affairs or fights in nightclubs, and his desire to actually play for his country...yep very understandable.
Yes, I do think he could still play in Europe, but why he would want to bother after reading some of the messages on here then god only knows.

Meercatboldy, why are you attempting to resurrect this old soldier ? It might have helped if you could have come up with something new or at least got your facts right.
Beckham is not the only one who desires to play for his country.Hundreds of others have.Beckham is not squeaky clean where affairs are concerned. There are probably hundreds of former England players who have been.
