Bjorn praises Montgomerie

Ryder Cup
comment on the article

European Ryder Cup vice-captain Thomas Bjorn says he has been impressed by captain Colin Montgomerie's attention to detail ahead of next week's match against the United States at Celtic Manor.

Bjorn has had a frosty relationship with the Scot in the past but that has long been forgotten by the Dane.

Can Montgomerie lead Europe to glory?

Kwini, is that say a bit like only flagging when the BBC makes a mistake and never balancing it out with any positives ? erm

Always try to be positive Diggers, but the past week or so seems to have seen a groundswell of anti-Monty stuff which I don't think is very well balanced.

To be honest, it seems the Beeb's guys who have a true passion for golf are not the same ones that usually write about it.

Would have thought that now was the time for a more positive spin but it seems the American press has a go at Monty and the BBC is jumping right on board with them. Unfortunate to say the least.

I think its a mix of people who dont care for Monty and maybe also dont totally buy into the over hyping of the RC, bring it all together and you get some fireworks.
Ive been on here long enough to remember the glee of a lot of people who professed to be RC fans after Faldos failure two years ago.
I think that was about the time I decided I really wasnt a big fan of the whole gig.

Of course Monty can lead the team to glory.
Regarding the BBC, when do they ever have a good word about anything.
Instead of showing the press how reporting should be done they are following it by knocking everything and everybody.
Forget the negative gutter news and lets start being positive about things and then Europe will win, win, win and not juust the Ryder cup.

Totally agree.
Question: in British golf clubs up and down the country, who is the most disliked person?
No prizes for this one.
Who to win? My money's on the US.

Anyone who has an even half decent memory will recall what a disaster was presaged for Woosie.
Give Monty a break, he will be criticised for everything unless he wins. The Harrington decision remains utterly odd but from here on in it's down to the players to unify and show what (a player I used to despise) Poulter showed last time. Passion and guts.

With all due respects to the European team, if it comes down to the last put to win the Rider Cup, I sincerely hope it comes from Tiger Woods. It would herald his return to the hihgest level as nothing else can.

Rider Cup, Who cares? A pun perhaps??

But for the Ryder Cup:
If it does, one can only hope he'll miss it.
