International Tests England

Is it a misprint or has he missed out on the main squad and performance squad?

He was one of the best wicket takers in the league this season. Monty might be taking wickets but it is in division 2! Hardly the same standard as division 1 cricket.

He is being given a rest after consultation between the England selectors, Yorkshire coaches and Rashid himself.

I guess that's a relief. I harboured hopes that if Monty were to get injured he would be drafted in to the side. All the better for Yorkshire next season no chance of England denting his confidence again

Rashid will go with the lions in the new year, I personally actually think this highlights a real plus for the England set up if the coaches are going and asking the counties what they think.

So England pick Tremmlett and Panesar ahead of Shahzad and Rashid. Of course, I forgot the 1st pair are playing in the 2nd division whilst the other two are playing in the 1st, logical if you think about it, especially as the season Surrey have had!

Or is it that the ECB forgot the reason for splitting the county championship was to get the cream to rise to the top, obviously that does not count if you play for a county based around London

Rashid isn#t even in the Lions party is he??! Ridiculous! And he averages over 50 with the bat as well!! Someone seems to love Panesar somewhere for some reason. And - er - no Bopara?? have they gone and left their senses somewhere??

It's like a club the England team particularly the batsmen.Once your in,it's hard to get out if you're one of the favoured few.
And how many of the team play for counties in the second division? Particularly those in the South East. Fancy filling the England football team with Championship players.

Its noticeable that all the cc players and incremental contract guys play in division one.

The performance squad has a tour of two 3-day games and lasts one month. So he's not missing much.
I don't believe the Lions squad has yet been announced.
