League One Southampton
comment on the article

Hey guys and gals. Anyone listened to the interveiw with Nige on the This is Scunthorpe website ( www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk).
Seems to me, that he's absolutely gagging to join Saints and despite everyone else saying the deal is dead, well, that just doesn't seem to be the case now does it. :-)

Yeah just heard it, and to be fair he impressed me with the way he conducted himself - clearly wants it.

Problem is he's almost annoyed me already - so repetitve - Can he say 'Football Club', talk about sleep deprivation etc anymore?

Lol

just listened to it an didnt seem as though he wanted to give much away other than there are "on going dicussions" he is "tired" lol and that "one day he will leave scunthorpe" sounds like a man who wants to join and feels he will. what a crazy day.....would say scunthorpe press statments where bs.......people want to put us down as they are afraid of what we are capable of achieving. and the press more so due to the ban...i hope it comes it was all a load of nonesense, we get adkins and people have to apoligise for being such d/h

Scunny fan here. I'll be gutted if he goes, but if he does go then he goes with my best wishes and thanks for everything he has done at United. @nick-obee - he's not the best interviewee in the world though! Good job he's better at motivating a team!

It was all sorted out. A certain Jose was going to take over as manager. Things were not going well in Spain and he wanted to get back into English football. Everything was sorted out untill he realised who 'the neighbours' were and pulled out of the deal. Well who can blame him the man has standards! Never mind we will go up as they go down. By the way is it true that their chimes have now been changed to 'Pay up pompy'? Well that's what I heard.

Personally I'll be gutted if Adkins leaves but he's earnt the right to try his luck at a club with a bigger support base and budget. He's done OK with the resources available at Scunthorpe mainly because the structure is already there to enable him to do so and because we have a shrewd chairman who will not place SUFC in any danger financially.

One thing struck me from the interview with Adkins last night. I too watched it on the www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk website and after I read through the comments that the Cheerries manager had been approached afterwards. Nigel said that one option available to him was to resign as Scunny manager to take the Southahmpton job. He was not prepared to do that and as such things had stalled. The fact that later that evening an approach to another manager was made, we could assume that what the media reported about Adkins being given an ultimatum might be somewhere near the truth??? Still, commendable ok action by Nigel refusing to quit Scunthorpe until there is a compensation deal sorted. Just proves that he does care about the club and wants to see the right thing done.

Oh and get used to his interviews - listening to him on BBC Humberside got me motivated nevermind the team!! Good luck goodluck NA - if you go!!

Stop worrying about who we can get as manager, there are plenty of quality managerís out there who would jump at the chance to join a club like Saints. The chairman scares the daylights out of me what a megalomaniac!!!

Honestly - I'm getting sick and tired of this debate now, just want the compensation issue sorted so that we can all get on with it.

Even though we battered Bristol second half yesterday, we walked away with nothing - your not telling me it isnt affecting any of the players.

Saints your getting yourselves an excellent manager - no dout.

Mr Wharton - please get this resolved, stick Baraclough in charge and lets get on with the season...
