Kobayashi for a podium?Formula One by Kai FT (U14383024) 05 September 2010 I know it sounds unrealistic, but i really think we could see a great performance from him at suzuka. The layout with its sweeping high speed corners is similar to silverstone, where he had his best result so far. In addition to that he knows the track well and suzuka is always up for changable weather to mix things up, so i would put my money on him (admittedly, not that much). SmashTV (U14314020) posted Sep 6, 2010 With some rain, a pile up taking out some of the leaders and some luck, then yes. The car isn't quick enough, and while the team has made some good calls in the race, the car isn't up to fighting for podiums.

Kai FT (U14383024) posted Sep 6, 2010 sure, it needs some luck to get a podium but i really think he can get into q3, the car isn't that bad at certain tracks. Suzuka should suit them and combined with his knowledge of the circuit he could spring a surprise.

LJ (U14274600) posted Sep 7, 2010 With the right combination, of track layout, good qualifying and a mega start which he's very capable of, it is possible for him to be on the podium. It would be like winning a race if he was able to do that in this years Sauber though. I just hope next year they will give him a much better car. He's got the talent and temperament I'm sure he'll be even driver next season. Really glad to see somebody showing faith in him. Thank goodness Peter Sauber came back

johnnyspireite7 (U8980204) posted Sep 7, 2010 I forgot about Petrov thanks Simon. Agree with you about Kamui and Vitaly being most exciting new drivers but need to be in better teams to challenge for honours and at the moment the Renault and Sauber cars arn't in the 3 big teams league so will have to settle for the lesser placings unless something wierd happens (torrential downpour in Q, Brainless Driver (SV) etc)

cwallis06 (U14596770) posted Sep 7, 2010 I doubt the car can make it onto the podium on pace alone, but then neither can the Mercedes and they've done it. But it will take a great drive, mega calls and some front runners hitting problems to happen. As Paul Stoddart said, however, "F1 is 'if' spelled backwards".
