Harry 'not close on anyone'...

Tottenham Hotspur
comment on the article

From the Evening Standard...

Redknapp has been linked with a move for Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano, Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra and a swap deal for Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar involving Peter Crouch but the Spurs manager dismissed all three transfers.

He said: "I would be surprised if there is anything happening here before the window closes. It could, but at the moment I couldn't say we are close to doing any deals, selling or buying. It is pretty dead out there."

----------------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea when this quote is from but it has to be since the Gallas signing and Harry's claiming there's no one in the pipeline. Does this pour hot water over the Fabiano claims or is he up to his 'we're not interested in Robbie' games. Normally statements like that are followed by about 3 or 4 signings but given his honesty i'd be surprised if we were as close to signing him as some people are claiming.

As far as i'm concerned its done and dusted.

it should be published as gospel now, seeing as we've practically beaten Young Boys already

No matter what, until a player signs Harry will deny all Knowledge of ever speaking to anyone, Most managers do to be fair though

Harry has said we aren't close to signing anyone, so who are we to disagree?

I fully expect to see a picture of Diarra, Fabiano and Klinsmann holding up their Spurs shirts tomorrow!!

This is classic Harry speak (not that this is a bad thing).

He's a classic "under-promise and over-deliver" manager. Did the same when we re-signed Keane in Jan '09.
