MarkowireDoe that mean he is worth 20 million plus???? NoLiverpool are in no place to hold out because they need cash and fast.._______________________________________________Hmmmm They are holding out though aren't they, whether they "need the cash and fast" or not. Not sure if you are aware but it is Thursday. Transfer window closes on Monday.A week ago my I was inclined to agree with you and even more so when Poulson arrived, with the Masch money going straight into the "Keep the RBS off our back" fund.Anyway we were wrong Markowire Sir. We should probably admit to ourselves that we are simply Football fans who like to wind up are LFC / MUFC rival fans on message boards but can only speculate as to how these clubs are run.Guess we have fun trying though

Kinsang, agree to a point. We're not massively over inflating his price, but merely stating he's a better player than when we bought him, so can't possibly be sold at a loss, happy or unhappy.
Didnt Liverpool pay £18 million because that was his the amount required to buy out his contract from Kia's company? Same with Tevez, not technically worth that much but their contracts were.Just because Liverpool were daft enough to pay that much to buy out his 3rd party ownership (which they did because the PL had just gone through a lenghty legal case with Sheff Utd regarding this) doesnt mean Barca have to bid that amount or more. If they dont think he is worth the money Liverpool are asking then they wont bid that amount, what is the big deal, any club can bid for a player. Liverpool have a wantaway player, of course there will be low bids. Thi swill drag on until 31st August then he will go for something in between the amount they have offered & the amount you want.
If Mascha is trying everything he can to leave, he should firstly put in an official transfer request he should also realise and accept lower personel terms and a lower fee if he wants out so much.he should also be fined by the club for every match he misses and chooses not to play in.On the other side of the arguement, I fully understand why he wants out and im not suprised after the Mancity game, that Torres, Reina, Gerrard and half of the team dont put in transfer requests, because the management was pityful.even a blindman could see that the formation wasnt working, that Ngog & Torres cancel each other out, that Milan when played as a CF & not a midfiled winger was more effective, that we desperatly need a LB and to then try and blame Mascha, when we also have other players who should have been in midfield in a 4-4-2 (Maxi should definetly have played, Aquilani should stay) - Kuyt is not a RM.And finally Roy not changing anything in the game until it was way to late was tragic.SO I dont blame Mascha for wanting out, and I think that Roys excuse for us being battered by City was pathetic.I fear that It is gonna be a long season.
sirHellsBells - I think you've hit the nail on the head - bascially Liverpool paid a few million more than what he was worth, and they aren't in a strong bargaining position, due to a lack of current success and the future doesn't look too optimistic regarding incoming transfers etc. That's why I think if they manage to get a fee in the low 20s they will have done well. It is similar to when Utd bought Carrick (I'm not comparing the players' abilities, but more their transfers). Utd paid more than what Carrick was worth, and I feel he has improved as a player, but if we were to sell him I think we would make a loss.
Personally I would say he is the best in the world at sitting in front of the back and breaking up the opposition's play. That's not to say he's the best DM in the world, just the best at what he does. Also, as much as I agree that as LFC fans we probably over estimate his value, I think opposition fans under value him because he's just so painful to watch unless he's on your team! Flying in for tackles, whinging at the ref and anyone else who'll listen, play-acting and biting at everyones ankles like a Yorkshire terrier on heat....it's not pretty. Worth £25m easily in my view but as he clearly wants out, anything around £20m would do.

I think he did well to hold out for 17.5m the player wasn't going to play for liverpool so get rid of him.shame it wasn't lucas who wanted away
I agree that LFC should hold out for what they think their property is worth and not give way to bullying clubs or sulking primadonnas. What irks a bit tho is that Hodgson is on about Inter making overtures for his players and forgetting he may be doing same for Fulham's...or have the papers got it wrong again? And another thing with all due respect to Liverpool fans, if Masch is worth all that much, how much do you think Cambiasso is worth? Am asking here not provoking
Hodgson is a hypocrite. Liverpool paid 18 mill 3.5 years ago. He is older now and not worth a penny more than 14 million------------------------You make it sound like he is 35 or something. Mascherano is only 26, and is only just going into his prime for DM. DM is a position where maturity really counts, just look at Makelele who just got better with age.Barcelona are getting Mascherano for his best years, and therefore the fee should have increased. He is worth about £25mil now so if the fee of £17.5mil is correct then Liverpool have been had by the player holding us to ransom.I hope the fee includes appearance add-ons and actually comes out nearer £25mil - closer to his real worth.
. He is worth about £25mil r u for real ?
