Torres has played for us longer he's our number 9, regularly took penalties for athletico and scored them, i know gerrard's no1 because he deserves to be......BUT WHO DECIDED JOE BEFORE TORRES - and yes i would've brought this up had joe (who i'm a fan of) had scored or not.

It's a well known fact that carragher's one of the best penalty takers in the team but he never takes them....

www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2oA... apart from bad music, torres scores some good penalties

Why Cole ahead of Torres? Because Liverpool just weren't bothered! 41,000 were there last night (I was one of them)and OK the tickets were cheap but the petrol getting there wasn't and the day off work (I didn't get paid) wasn't cheap either. In return I watched a reserve team and a penalty taker who hadn't taken one for 15 years. If Liverpool don't want to be in the Europa League then don't enter it. Give Fulham another go instead - they tried last season! Yes the stadium had no atmosphere last night, we didn't turn up to watch a reserve team friendly!

N'Gog is a masterful striker. He is a combination of Maradona and Heskey.

Just a question to whoever advertised this article as: "Joe Cole apologises for penalty miss".. Where the hell in this article did he apologise? Classic BBC sensationalism.

LiverFOOL fans are a joke... Roy is dragging you down with him. I've heard a rumour he still think he's at Fulham. Trying to sign the likes of Carlton Cole for 20m... i think someone should send him off to a nice retirement home before its too late ;^J sending of Aqua-man on loan when Javier Marsh wants to leave doesn't make much sense either. I LOVE THE FAILING OF LIVERFOOL FC :)

In game #3 for Liverpool, Joe Cole will be sent off for attacking the other team's goalkeeper for saving his penalty kick. Stay tuned!

Liverpool's Joe Cole took the blame for the penalty miss.

Umm, good? Seriously though - who else would take the blame? He took the funking penalty.

It wasn't a great penalty for sure however I have to ask what were the five officials doing? The goalie was two yards off his line and they had at least two players well inside the box when Cole took the kick. I would add that there were at least two other penalties I saw in the same competition where the same thing happened.

I am the first to agree that refs have a tough job but a penalty kick looks about the easiest one to police. Goalie has to stay on his line and players out of the area, five of them to do the job and it is still a farce.
