Who would make your squad

International England
comment on the article

for the upcoming friendly

I know some people say its stupid we have a friendly, i dont, it will be interested to see who gets picked, who gets booed. I would have a big clearout, im not including man u or chelsea players cause of community shield, i know it doesnt really matter, but i wouldnt pick them if i was cappelo

GK - Hart, James, Foster

Simple really, James was solid at world cup, one of our best players, not many to pick from i know, hart is the future, foster should have a great season at birmingham.

DF - Richards, Onouha, Dawson, Cahill, Gibbs, Ridgewell, Scott Dann, Roger Johnson

Not the strongest, and barely any caps between them, but with ferdinand out, and im not including chelsea/man u players because of the community shield. Its not that bad of a defence. In fact in theory every player there is a very strong player, I picked the three birmingham defenders simply because birmingham had one of the best defences in the prem in the league last year, cause of them three players.

MF - Gerrard, Milner, Huddlestone, Johnson, Walcott, Cattermole, Parker, Wilshere, Matty Taylor

A lot of strong players there, in the middle and on the wings, wilshere is ready imo, I think this because every year i watch the emirates cup and he performs better than everyone else playing, players that have played top flight footall for years. Matty taylor, cause why not? he has been a good consistent performer for years now and is never mentioned.

ST - Cole, Bent, Defoe, Zamora

Bent should of gone to world cup, defoe is solid and performed well, zamora deserves it after last year, cole is like heskey but better, involves people in the game like heskey, but can score as well.

Say what you want about this team, i think its pretty good, not a world class team yet, but in a few years, who knows, a lot of young players who already play regular football at the highest level, the premiership, and have potential to get even better. It is solid enough to win the game, and its only a friendly, we should have played most of these players in friendlies over the last few years, trying out new players, every other country does it.

What you think? and what would yours be?

I am truly amazed Gerrard is still in the squad, same old, same old, the FA and Crapello will never learn......

Walcott is clearly not good enough for international football. Wilshere and Gibbs have hardly played for Arsenal. What happened to "players need to be regulars for their clubs"?

I'm just amazed Frimpong isn't in the squad considering Wenger announced he should be.

"Get RID of him, I would never play someone who doesn't pull his socks up "

What about John Terry? He was too busy pulling his socks up for the first German goal.

Cappelo is really bad isn’t he?
What a terrible selection of players for his new revitalised England team!
I agree with bringing in young fresh players Walcott, Wilshire, Gibbs, Johnson, Young etc… but why no J Cole? He looks bursting with a new team and focus?
Glen Johnson was terrible!!! What about Richards??? Wes brown is ok but come on… G nevile would be in my side for shear experience and leadership.
I would like to have seen Rodwell, Sturridge, Muamba, Gosling and Baxter although young may well play a very important role for Everton and England in the Future (or Manu!) with Rooney so why not test him in an England shirt at first team?
Wenger let the cat out that Frimpong can play for England and he looks like a real talent, play him under 21’s! its stupid, we will let him play for Ghana ad go on to become the new Essien at arsenal. Great! Go on England! Pathetic…
Cole, Bent, Zamora? Really sad…
Sturridge, or Welbeck would work better and be more interesting for testing with Rooney.
AND! Why not Owen!, they have always worked well together and they look great in pre season, it’s so important to utilize partnerships that play in the premier league together in all positions.
Look how Muller and Swiensteiger worked so well at world cup straight away! Its like Ash Cole and joe cole in front cutting in, with Ash looking to overlap his position. It works, thay are good at it and have played together for years! It’s so simple, do the math!
I think Cappelo has it all wrong, training methods and strictness, mentality for English players, motivation, formation, player selections, all!!!
I think Stuart Pearce no1 and Alan Shearer No2 could work well together. Fact.
So Cappelo will play this team bellow as per 442 out dated and out played very easily now in all leagues around the world, Martin O’neil loves it at Villa but has adapted in last season because its just not cricket! Haha.

...............Hart..............
Johnson...Terry...Jagielka...Cole
.................................
Millner..Lampard..Barry...Gerrard
...........Bent...Rooney.........

Wow!!! its truly revitalised!!!! we will win the euro12 with this team!!!! CAPPELO SUCKS!

How about this....

................Hart................
..........Jagielka...Terry..........
Richards......................A.Cole
..........Rodwell...Wilshiere.......
Walcott........Gerrard........J.Cole
...............Rooney...............

Isnt that a better more exciting team???

or if you really want to try a new look 4231

.................Foster................
...........Smalling...Cahill..........
Gosling...........................Gibbs
.............Rodwell..Frinpong...........
.......................................
....Wallcott.....Wilshire....Johnson...
.................Rooney................

Arsenal are certainly not helping with the english players situation so what is the irony? That they have 3 english players that aren't that good anyway. Can't wait for the future.

------------------

So I guess the other guys that are not Arsenal players are good....ha! So much for being hammered in WC. I'm even happy Walcott wasn't in that bunch of players, afterall>

I hope the Arsenal trio do make a difference - but to claim they have already just for being named in the squad is frankly ridiculous.

Furthermore the comment about Walcott not being at the WC making you happy is ignorant - like he would have made a difference - NOT !

That German team was one of the best and while 'that goal' may have made a difference to the scoreline - England would not have won.

. . . . . and to think I flew all that way to watch those prima donnas !

Lol not that good, maybe walcott, who is still only young, but they have wilshere, who looked quality at bolton and has genuine potential to be world class, then kieran gibbs who is the next ashley cole imo.

---------------------------

The most ignoramus comment I have heard so far. Walcott has had 4 years to prove he is quality and has little impact at all, (even though I thought he should've been in WC squad).

As for Gibbs,he is highly undependable and is yet anopther one of those so called overhyped Arsenal youngsters.

Foster, Smalling, Gibbs, Rodwell, Frinpong, Wilshere...

Why pick players that cant even get into thier club teams? What is there that makes you think they are better than every other young player that turns up for thier local pub team ever sunday?

Answer - none. The pub youngsters get 90 mins every week, these players just run around the training track and get the odd 5 minute run out. And look nothing special.

If you want to pick a young team, you pick young players that are getting 90 minutes a game, every game. Players who are actually good enough to get into thier club XI then progress to international honours, not the other way round.

Players like Scholes, Neville and Beckham were good enough to get into United first team when they were still young, remember?

Two Jacks...they've got the wrong one. Rodwell should be in the England team not Wilshere. Rodwell played regularly for Everton last season and was consistently good.

The only difference is he doesn't play for Arsenal, so doesn't get the hype. Watch this space.
