A big congratulations to Ross Fisher on becoming the 2010 Irish Open Champion, he did it in fine style this week shooting a 61 Friday and a fine 65 today. Ross will be a very popular winner due to his likeable personality and connections with Horizon sports Mgt. Good to see Ross back in the winners circle, one of my personal favorites for a Ryder Cup spot.

Well played also to Padraig Harrington who was back to his battling best, producing some fine scores having not hit it as well as he may have liked earlier in the week, but today he produced an excellent 64. Positive signes for Podge going into The Bridgestone Inv and The PGA Championship. A good week for European Golf.

A bit harsh on Fisher diggers. I think his main problem has been not holing enough 10-20 footers............on the contrary i think Monty will be happy to have him in there

I do rate him John, I just think he maybe gets a little overated on here. He's won the Irish Open and suddenly a few are saying he's actually a better bet than Westwood for a major....not sure about that at all.
The putting comment is based purely on what I have seen, I can remember him missing tiny putts at the Open and the US last year and also a good few this year. Maybe its just unlucky on him they happen to have been on camera at the time?

I know what your saying Diggers, but don't think I would describe his season as "shocking". His stroke average is 71.97 this season which is 34th (admittedly not great), but better than a certain Rory Mcilroy at 71. I would say Michael Campbell is shocking at a stoke average of 77+ & comfortably last in this stat. I agree that Westwood is still a better bet for a major at the moment.

Yes indeed Yacare, great four rounds in the 60's from Gonzalo Fernandez Castaño, I do like his short game, bit of Seve wizardry going on there. "El Madrilaño" should use this to kick start his season. ok

I'm happier that Chris Wood had another good finish as he is from Bristol. Just needs a win to take him to the next level.

It was a very good Irish Open all round and it was good to see the big galleries at the weekend.

Fantastic to see Ross Fisher win, a great striker and nice guy to boot. He played the best golf by far over the four days. Harringtons short game display was simply astonishing, he has to be the best scrambler by some distance in world golf today. The Irish Open was also a massive success with over 80,000 spectators and Killarney looked stunning on TV!
