Confirmation by Horner - RBR favour Vettel

This team has once again showed where its priorities lie. After Vettel's front wing isssue this morning in free practice, they replace it with the new updated wing from Webber's car and give the number 6 driver the old spec.

Horner's reasoning behind it when Eddie Jordan had put him firmly in the spotlight post qualifying was that due to the relative performance in this morning's free practice and yesterday and the fact that Vettel lies p3 in the WDC meant that it went to the German. However seeming the points difference is only 12 points and the two have been so close throughout the weekend, I just can't see how that decision was justified unless they want the German to be crowned WDC.

What I dislike even more is the fact that Red Bull were always going to lock out the front row after the struggles of McLaren so why didn't they leave the new spec wing on Webber. It's unfair to the driver and his mechanics who had a trouble free session this morning unlike the other side of the garage who had its problems to then disadvantage Webber by giving him the old wing.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Webber walk away from Red Bull at the end of year and to tell the team to forget the 2011 contract.

At least Kimi fans will be happy!

I think this line from Christian Horner (or possibly what can be read into it) is quite revealing. "We have given Mark a great opportunity to drive for a front-running team, he's doing a great job, he's driving brilliantly well.".
Is the first part of that suggesting Webber should stop complaining and be grateful?

webber look so un happy why ? i thnks there is a big problem within that team. My understanding is that the team comes first and personal race second.

No vettel was wrong to over celebrate after winning knowing that webber could have died in that horrific accident, he should have shown a bit more understanding and concern for his team mate. I can understand why webber would not be happy.

While I can see Mark's point here, maybe he should consider that the new-style wing has already fallen off Seb's car once this weekend so maybe going back to an older, more proven wing gives him one less reliability concern...

Is there anything in the rules to the effect that the car must finish in the same spec it started? If Seb damages the new wing and they have no replacement and have to fit the old-style one, would they fail scrutineering?

It would be fare if the part came off the shelf. But to take it from marks car is bad management on Mr horner's part.
if he wants a rift within the team... carry on!
Mark has put in some blinding drives this year and Vettel has made some blinding blunders. half way through the season and Redbull have chosen their favourite already!!!

KingCoul:
"I find Horners logic illogical".

I find it highly amusing that he will logically have to apply his lack of logic to the future logistics of Mark Webber now being ahead of his favoured one!

Christian Horner: back in the corner…

Did anyone else notice how he avoided eye-contact with Webber, but then, as soon as "Seb" appeared, Horner leapt straight across to give him a cuddle?

- Quite sickening to see such an open display of one-sidedness from a team boss. And in my view; quite disgraceful.

It sickens me to hear about this as Webber is the better of the two drivers and it shows how short sighted horner is if he has picked Vettel over Webber for the championship already. I hope Hamilton or Button win the championship this year to show that red bull they are not winning it right now or ever.
