USA - This team has some serious character

World Cup USA
comment on the article

Thrice in 4 world cup games, USA came back from behind to either draw or win the game. This is some serious character and great leadership. We all know they're not the best known team in football but in Spirit, they are way ahead of a Lot of well known champions. Any comments ?

Well they're really going for it in extra time, they've brought Hercules on.

There should have been 5 mins. Ghana disgraced themselves with their blatant time wasting.

But time wasting happens very often .

Time wasting happens but that is one of the reasons Americans don't like the sport. I mean what do you tell them when the guy bicycle kicks it away only to get up then fall down to waste time. Not quite the beautiful game at it's best.

Don't let the US "never say die" spirit fool you regarding their coaching. Arena, and now Bradley, have literally ridden the coattails of their players in getting past group stages of '02 and '10. Kudos to Bradley for sticking taking the helm of the USMNT, but it's time to pass the mantle to an experienced internatioanl coach.

Some of you should come on holiday to the states. You'd be surprised how much we know about soccer, particularly the English leagues in particular.

And this might be the end of the good USA team. Howard/Dempsey/Donovan all getting older. Altidore, who I should remind you all is 20, is going to be a massive striker in the future, though.

One thing I will say about the US team during this world cup and the last couple of world cups, is that they have always been entertaining. They rarely play negatively and try and sit on a lead (of course, they never had the chance this time!) or play out a draw.

Howard and Donovan will likely be in Brazil - Dempsey only if he stays in the Premier League and healthy. Altidore will mature if he stays in the EPL, although, of course, Hull City have dropped out of the league so...
What the USA needs above all else is a proven finsher up top. Look for Charlie Davis in that spot in Brazil.
