Fry to Ferrari

How is this different to McL getting a bunch of data on CD or paper? Fry has many secrets locked up inside his head - is he allowed to use them at Ferrari now?

Is there no non-compete clause in F1 job contracts?

If Fry shows up with data from McLaren and uses that data at Ferrari, then there is not much which is different from the the '07 scandal, save that the scandal then was done on the QT.

There should be a non-compete clause in Fry's contract and if not... shame on McLaren.

If the FIA allows the use of any McLaren ideas on a Ferrari, even if it comes out of Fry's head and not from a disk, a piece of paper or email, even over any complaint from McLaren, then it will be more evidence that the FIA favor Ferrari over anyone and everyone else. Me-thinks that with Todt now ensconced at the FIA, he will have to toe the line and not do anything which could be interpreted as being prejudiced. Time will surely tell the truth here.

What occurred when Newey left McLaren? Didn't he have a period of time before he could use his knowledge gained at McLaren? Does Fry hold as much or more knowledge than Newey?

Unless Ferrari design a replica car its going to be very hard. It took FA threatening to tell the FIA before MM got caught out.

If MM have an F-duct style idea for next year, could Ferrari develop it during the winter too and just say it was coincidence. Did any of us really think anything of it when 4 or 5 teams all came up with the double diffuser a couple of years back. The F-duct was copied by a number of teams within a few races anyway.

Since the middle I in FIA surely stands for Inconsistency, why bother even thinking about it? It'd be nice if F1 got in the news for some really good racing (like in the last race) rather than for technical controversies and legal wrangles.
BTW, will the next development of the F-duct be the G-spot?

I see people still talk about the socalled 'F duct' as if its a concept only understood by McLaren. :) .. Only used by McLaren at the start of 2010 season - true. Because the other teams honoured the agreement made. McLaren - not so.

About Fry joining Ferrari. Coupe. But you have seen 'Men in Black', right? .. RD was standing there with his dark sunglasses and blitzed the little thingy, when Fry left Woking.

You can't legislate about what's in people's heads. If Stephney had joined McClaren, not taken any Ferrari data, and contributed based on what he had in his head then the FIA wouldn't have been able to take any action against McClaren. That's not what happened.

People need to stop comparing apples and oranges and when there are different claiming conspiracy.

McClaren broke the rules and were punished. Get over it.

Boo! Hiss! Traitor! ;)

If McLaren weren't a fair way ahead of Ferrari at the moment, I'd be quite annoyed. As it is, I expect them to catch up by the end of the season. :(

Although this kind of thing happens all the time in sport (e.g. Carlos Tevez going from Man Utd to Man City), its more of an issue in motorsport, because the technical side is so important.

I WOULD ASSUME IF MCLAREN,WERE THAT BOTHERED SURELY LIKE WHEN A DRIVER LEAVES HE IS NOT ALLOWED INTO HIS NEW TEAM UNTIL HE IS GIVEN THE OK, THEREFORE MCLAREN COULD RELEASE FRY BUT NOT LET HIM START OR CONTACT FERRARI UNTIL END OF SEASON,ASSUMING HE HAS A CURRENT CONTRACT,...OR HAS SOMEONE BOOBED ???

Gutted! but what most of you dont know is that Fry is a double agent here and he is getting the best of both worlds! He will pass ferrari data to his mates at whilst aiding ferrari with their development as well. Kinda like a double agent during the cold war! Far fetched? impossible? just ask the italian football team ;) <cool>
