Fifa give England 2018 bid thumbs-up

World Cup England
comment on the article

Fifa vice-president Jack Warner says he does not believe the Lord Triesman fiasco has harmed England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup, and the bid still has as good a chance as any other the rival groups.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

Warner has previously been critical of England's bid, and he is a man whose pronouncements need to be taken seriously.

As head of the Concacaf union of North American and Caribbean football associations, he effectively control three of the 24 votes on Fifa's executive committee whtn final voting takes place in December.

So does this make you feel more confident about England's chances, or do you think he is just being polite and diplomatic? And what do you think are the main strenghts and weaknesses of the bid? Your thoughts and opinions please...

The quote on the main story suggests that David Bond said those words - which he obviously didn't, it was Warner.

I have no problems with MK Dons hosting matches. Come to think of it, by 2018 MK might even be in the Premier.

What a bunch of amateurs!

When taking down comments because of supposed defamation, it would help if those moderating the site actually understood the concept, instead of using it as an excuse to censor comments they do not agree with.

Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation, Trotsky would be so proud.

2 stampedes and it hasn't even started yet? I wonder what the odds on a real disaster during this tournament are?

Really?

Have you been to SA lately.

A pretty country but I was shocked at how far removed it is from a safe and modernised country.
