Beckham needs to gracefully retire, his England playing days are over surley now.

I would have taken Beck's as a sub though.

There needs to be a bit of focus on blooding some of those left behind after the WC. Get them some experience and a chance to show what they are about at this level.

Cannot hang on to Lamps, Terry, Gerrard etc. That is when real managers show their metal - dumping the higher profile players.

I'm just surprised Capello got so many choices wrong, in my opinion. Ok say Upson over Dawson you could argue about international experience although I still think it was a bad choice. But to also pick SWP over Adam Johnson, Heskey over Bent, Carrick over Walcott. In my opinion the only one he got right was Baines!

What he has done is severely limit the options he has. Now, Plan A must work immediately and all players in that plan must stay fit.

Still the squad is what it is and it's time to get 100% behind the boys!

In saying that, James' comments today worry me. I know other keepers have complained about the ball but he sounds like he's already making excuses. Really hope Joe Hart gets the nod.

imo big mistake not taking D Bent...... look at his goals for charlton, spurs and sunderland in the Prem League... even at ipswich and at england u21 level he was banging the goals in...what will we do if rooney gets injured???? id taken all 5 strikers and left upson at home

Not at all. We already have Barry, Lampard, Gerrard and Milner to play in the middle of the park. No need for another centre mid especially Carrick who has had a poor season (and i'm a utd fan!). The squad would have much better options if we had Walcott instead.
