Murray braced for Berdych

French Open
comment on the article

Andy Murray is looking forward to taking on Tomas Berdych in the fourth round at Roland Garros on Sunday and has enthusing about how at home he feels on the clay.

Presumably another happy effect of his teenage training in Spain...

So, cards on the table, how far do you think the Scot can go?

yes it will be a tough match and Murray will need to serve very well as his second serve was getting creamed by Baggy.

I still expect him to have too much class for Berdy, to frustrate him into making way too many errors and ultimately to break his spirit.. this is something Murray is very good at.

Federer isn't good on Clay is he? I would bet him getting to the final then losing to Nadal as he's in amazing form.

Sir Wayne Rooney

please don't take this the wrong way as I don't mean to offend in anyway.

It's just that asking if Federer is 'any good on clay' really made me laugh. You probably don't watch much tennis and that's OK too. Federer is a superb clay court player and he can beat everyone on the tour on the surface, especially over 5 sets, but of course he faces the best current clay player (Nadal) who also happens to be a very bad match up.

So, yes, you maybe right that Federer will lose to Nadal in the final... but that just means he's the second best clay courter as well as the best grass and hard court player

I said to anyone that would listen, that, If Andy could get past Gasquet in the first round, that he would get to the semis. If he does, and it's against Federer, then every chance he can get to the final. if it's Nadal in the final, then its likely that Murray would lose his third slam final in straight sets......... we'll see.

To be brutally honest. He has less than 24 hours left in the tournament. thats how far he will go.

I think it will be a tricky match for Murray, but he will probably win it. If he does he will reach the semi, and most likely play Federer. If so it will be a fascinating match, as he might feel a bit less pressurised, and thus put in a performance against him which is more similar to what he has produced at Master Series level. Having said that, I doubt very much he will win-maybe nick a set a best.
