Premier League Manchester City

Jo has had a fantastic season with Brum & has stated he doesn't want to come back to City & sit on the bench.

Should we
1. Let him stay there for a large fee obviously
2. Loan him out for the season again
3. Get him back & put him on the bench as reserve should anything happen to Shay
4. Get him back & put him in the 1st team. He should be the 1st team keeper anyway, Shay Given is getting on a bit

I feel I have to jump to Shay's defence here...at Newcastle he had a shamble of a defence (remember Bramble!) then he moves to City and despite our millions spent he gets that fool Toure at the back? he has spared Man City and Newcastle's blushes on a million occasions, any team would love to have him.

joe hart is a good keeper, obviously one of the best seeing as thou he is pushing for a place in the england team, if he stays at man city then it wouldn't work, he was unhappy on the bench last season and he has started all games for brum, and he is defo a 1st team goaly.
brum should be able to keep joe, and i think they will.

I'm totally shocked to hear some supporters even suggesting leaving Given out of the starting 11. He is top class. Has to be in the top 4 keepers in the world!! Please appreciate what we've got!!

curadh

"Given time and time has proved he is one of the best in the premiership. He has a dodgy defence in front of him which changes all the time."

yes he is one of the best keepers in the PL and he has produced some fantastic saves for us, which is what keepers are there for i would point out.
However, you fail to address his failure to come for crosses which i suspect is due to lack of confidence due to his lack of inches and his failure to command his own area as most of the top Keepers do.

I reckon you should loan him out for another season. Given, at the moment, is a better and much more experienced keeper. For a team challenging for the top 4, and looking to stay in it next season, it's risky to have such a young keeper as first choice. You could always install a recall clause into his loan contract, and if Given was to get injured or have a poor season then you could get him back.

Given is better, end of, and has argubly been the best keeper in the premier league over the past ten years - experience international, over 100 caps - no doubt Hart is the future but people should use caution before bigging up Hart - look what happened to Carson and Robinson - built up as some kind of super human goalkeepers - one mistake for England each and their careers have been in decline since

Sorry but no way should Joe go back to Brum next season even if we do not get 4th. Shay is first choice and deservedly so. Joe will have to bide his time. He is one for the future. If he looks at the first choice keepers for top clubs, a group we ASPIRE to join, he will realise he has plenty of time on his side. While he might not like it, he can afford to bench warm for a year or two. He is under a long contract, as far as I know, so, if he asks for a move we should simply tell him "No". With our money nobody can make us an offer that is too good to refuse so we have the whip hand. Simples......

A team like Man City could afford a more reliable goalkeeper. Shay knows there were matches where he could have done better.

It's not just a matter of being able to afford them, it's also whether they're available, and at the moment, who is there? There's a few real quality keepers, but would their club sell?

Im a Chelsea fan, and I admit that Given is the best goalkeeper in the Premiership, the only keeper near him is Reina (The best player Liverpool have).
Van Der Sar isnt what he once was and Cech hasnt been the same since since Hunt the c ** t brained him.
