Foot Off Gas. Garbage.

Premier League Birmingham City
comment on the article

Recent losses

Fulham away
West Ham away
Portsmouth away (FAC)
Sunderland away
Blackburn away

This is total garbage. I cant stand hearing that "we've had a great season" or "would you rather be in Burnley's position?". Why on earth are we just lying down and allowing teams to walk all over us away from St Andrews? Why is he not picking Chucho away from home? - It's not working!

Keith Fahey i'm sure has potential to be a good player, but it's time for a spell in the reserves a la Queudrue.

We wimped out of 50/50's, didn't chase, didn't close down. Why aren't we bothering? Big Eck spoke pre match about all of Blackburn Rovers strengths from set pieces and how Christopher Samba is a threat from set pieces. Did he forget to tell the players?

Honestly, if this carries on, I would rather had been in a relegation dogfight until the end of the campaign.

A very silly article.

It can take years just to be established in The Premiership - for the last 6 years we have been anything but.

I would take mid table for the next 2-3 seasons, no problem and yet you beleive becasue we have had a few bad results its ok to criticise mcleish? Joker!

fulham, blackburn, westham and sunderland are all better teams then us, so no shame in losing away. We was always going to lose against pompy, that was innevitable due to the cirumstances.

we play 19 games at home. if we lost to the big 4 home and away and won the rest of our home games we would have 45 points. this would be enough for safety every season. i dont see what the big problem is with losing a couple of games away from home against teams who are better then us?

obviously its unrealistic to expect us to win 15 home games in a season but we are not going to lose every away game either. the best promoted teams hope for is to pick up about 10 points on the road and then get 10 wins at home to see them safe. we have far surpassed this this season so while i understand some people are frustrated that we havnt pushed on and that we are conceding silly goals early on, its nothing to get to downhearted about

im sure mcliesh will get it sorted and we will be back on the right track soon with everybody looking forward to another season of premiership football and the chance to finally rid ourselves of the "yo-yo" tag.

as for this comment - "Honestly, if this carries on, I would rather had been in a relegation dogfight until the end of the campaign." it is a ridiculous thing to say and makes me think you are a disgrace to blues as 99% of fans would much rather be midtable every year then fighting for their lives. hopefully it was a comment made because you are angry and frustrated and not something you actually belive because if it is id rather you go support the wolves or baggies.

The Bruce years put this club back 5 years, the 2005 relegation season when we had an international squad hurt this club. Today we sit 9th wih Alex McLeish and people are moaning. AM has stated he is looking for 6-7 players. Moaning over Pavlechenko is pointless, is he wearing a Blues shirt not the last time I looked.

Europe is a step to far in AM's eyes therefore this has to be accepted and we see whate next season brings interms of new players and with it a better league finish.

So far I have no reason not to back Eck, the Board see this and apparently Liverpool too.

So where exactly is the problem???

Zabolus

Really good post Zabulous. You have certainly captured the strange mixture of pride and frustration that certainly I feel and which I believe many other Bluenoses feel too.

Lee mate, I get where you're coming from: it can't be anything other than disappointing for us to be on the 'run' we're on at the minute, particularly given what an incredible season we have had.

From my point of view, I have been expecting this slump for a while simply because I would imagine that the players are getting a bit jaded. Don't get me wrong, I have little sympathy for any professional who can't be at the top of their 'game' week in week out - we all have to do it! However, given that there are a good deal of squads in the prem with more strength in depth, we are a little thin on the ground.

I think that, come the end of the season we would all have to agree it has been a success ... even if we go on to lose most of the rest of our games. But the frustration in going through that period is probably fair enough.

Personally, I see the result and get a bit narked by it but it soon wears off whilst I think back fondly to the winter months!!!!

I understand that a forum is all about opinion, but I can only think that the people who are criticising my article haven't watched each one of these away games and seen the team not put in 100%.

The second we won against Reading at the end of last season, we became a Premier League football club. Doesn't matter where you finished the season before, everybody starts off with a level playing field. So when I read "for a promoted club", I couldn't really give a stuff. We are a Premier League club as much as the other 19 are. Simple as that.

The League table doesn't lie in February. If you're 8th, it means you've performed better than 12 other teams over the course of the season.

There seems to be a mentality among the players and sections of the crowd that it's job done and that they are more than happy to see us perform around 15th/16th best in the league to level out our season.

The run has gone. It's gone. We have 7 matches left and I want to win them. I don't want to have a good season where the job was done - I want a season where we finish up the highest place knowing that the lads have put everything into every game, and it doesn't seem that that's going to happen.

Sunderland away Craig Gordon man of the match, hard to do that if we played awfully and didn't attack. You whinge, you whine but there I saw a team come back in a hugely impressive second half, so unlike us. Chucho played that game too. Some people are just not happy unless they are moaning, lets celebrate some great football pls.
