After a lengthy gap since the Australian Open, the next big tournament has finally rolled into town - the Indian Wells Masters 1000!

As the name would suggest, there are 1000 points up for grabs for the winner, with last year's champion Nadal currently defending the full total.

Unofficial Rankings Table:
This is a 'live' representation of the total points each player would leave with if they gained no further points in the tournament. A bold name indicates the player is still active in the tournament and has the potential to gain more points.

Analysis:

RESULT - LJUBICIC BEATS RODDICK TO WIN INDIAN WELLS MASTERS!

In a tournament which falls on his birthday, 31 year old Ljubicic rolled back the years and improved on his quarter final position from last year, defeating several big names on the way to his first Masters Series title. The Croat now rockets into the top 16, up 13 places compared to the previous rankings.

The fallen finalist Roddick picked up some strong points to close the gap on Soderling. And with Davydenko and Del Potro both injured above them there could be plenty of movement amongst the top players over the coming months.

Nadal had 1000 points to defend this week and could not make any gains. With questions hanging over the Spaniard's form and fitness at the start of the tournament it seemed like a huge ask to retain his no.3 spot. However when he reached the semi-finals with Murray losing in the quarters it once again seemed a possibility. Nadal was just one win away from retaining his spot, but went down to in-form Ljubicic, meaning Murray now moves up to no.3.

Tsonga overtook Gonzalez to round out the top 10, while Gonzalez decided to miss the tournament and stay in Chile in the aftermath of the Chile earthquake.

Just used the 'draw forcast' on the web points Spy. If Looby beats A-Rod he'll jump to 13 in the ranking, just above Ferrero. He gets to 18 at least.

<cool>

Thanks for reading :-)

Back in less than a week for Miami <ok>

I will try my best to have the main table on the website back online by then. Also got yet another new handy feature coming in, but I dont know if it will be ready in time for Miami. ;-)

Thanks again Cogen. Does Ljubicic not get a green line? Looks like he's not got much to defend in Miami, so could he break into the top ten again?

My ATP draw challenge was really scuppered by the unpredictability of this tournament, but then so was most people's. At least I got Ljubicic to beat Djokovic correct!
