Anyone else think Lyon could do it this year? Liverpool, Fiorentina and now Real Madrid beaten already. Going through there starting 11 its hard to see a real weakness or reason why they cant win it. I think if they avoid Barcelona they have a real shout, as last year showed they don't seem to be able to deal with there style of football. But I would certainly think they could give all 3 English teams a real run for there money.

Maybe lacking a bit of cutting edge up front could be there downfall. At the back with Hugo Lloris in goal and Toulalan protecting a very reliable defence they look good.

So do you think they can do it? Would you be pleased to get drawn against Lyon in the next round or rather avoid them?

I hope Lyon get Man U and beat them just to shut up the arrogent Man U fans who seem to have the same obnoxious traits as the Man U manager. Who win it after that I do not really care.

Lyon probably will get United

These are my other predictions, on the basis that Chelsea beat Inter ...

Chelsea Vs Barca
Sevilla Vs Bordeaux
Arsenal Vs Bayern

Hilarious, after some of the things the Madrid players, especially Guti, were spouting prior to the match. Well done Lyon!

Lyon can win it simply from a 'tactical perspective' like Liverpool did in 2005 & Porto did in 2004.

Very dark horses maybe.

They just sat around watching Madrid play for the first half and are struggling to impose their game even in the French league. I don't think they're as good without Juninho and Benzema.

However, they could start to gel as a team and that might change things if they avoid Barcelona or Man U in the next round.

Another team that could be starting to peak is Bayern, who now have Ribery back in the team. I think we've a few more surprises in store.

PS: What about Lyon v Barcelona in the final... in Madrid!

Starting XI is good enough top beat anyone almost anyone, but the really good teams can still win if they are missing key players. I don't think that Lyon have the strength in depth, that means they can win with a key player (or two) injured or suspended.

I think Lyon have a very young squad filled with potential but just like Arsenal they might cave in under pressure from a good team like Chelsea or United

I'm sick and tired of people saying that Man U, or any other team, are a 'one man team'.

Before Rooney, it was Ronaldo. Before him, it was Beckham. Before him, Cantona. Give it a rest.

Man U wouldn't be in the Champions League if it wasn't for Rooney's goals. They wouldn't be in it without Valencia's crossing, or without Vidic and Ferdinand defending, or without Van Der Sar pulling off his saves, or without Scholes' delivery.

Just because Man U work the ball so that Rooney is the spearhead, and therefore scores most of the goals, doesn't mean that he is the only person involved in the goals. In fact, most of them are fairly easy goals provided by near perfect crosses and Rooney actually has the easiest part of the entire attack.

All the people predicting the draw please stop. we know 4 teams in the draw. of the 4 teams lyon are weakest but considering they are quarenteed a quater final they have a better chance than some of the teams being mentioned you aren't even through yet. also the liverpool vs lyon game was by far the worst game i have seen this season and both sides belong in the europa.
