Why do all Brit refs pander to the Australi

Why do we get the same thing every time we get an aussie team over here?, they let them lay on the player for far to long after the tackle, just because itís the way they play in Aus. Silverwood does not seem able or willing to punish them for this.

And watching this game I really donít think that Stevo & Mike have said one complimentary thing about any Leeds player and yet they seem to think that most of the Aussie players are some sort of Gods

Oh come on, if Super League played to these standards of laying on in the tackle we'd all be bored senseless. The Sky commentry made reference to playing to 'International Rules' which basically means playing how the Australians interpret the game. Silverwood, in all honesty, referee'd pretty fairly but by taking the 'International' interpretation it made a dull spectacle. Have to agree with Polly Tunnel I've seen far better games in far worse conditions.

Well done storm. But unfortunately your spoiling tactics rubbished the match from a spectator point of view. I know you play to the rules as seen by the ref, but I hope it never catches on in the UK, it will ruin our game. So wots the plan, do we swop rules for alternate WCC?

As for the hanging on in tackles, ya play to the ref's whistle.
If the ref isn't going to blow the pea, then get up him, not the players.

Besides, since we have had the two ref's in place that is one part of the game that has been tidied right up and quicker play the balls are there for all to see.

So get off ya high horse with the excuses and except the fact you got done in your own back yard with your own bloody lousy ref who wouldn't blow his whistle.

You can't blame Bellamy or Smith for this one......

Souths, I agree with you that the blame for turning what was meant to be a showpiece of RL skills turned into a mud wrestling contest lies with the Ref and to some extent the weather.
I really don't care who won but what I do care about is that as a spectacle the match was a complete washout. What's the point of bringing an Ozzie team over here in attempt to promote the game and attract more supporters if all that they get to see is something that even die hard supporters found dull.

A poor spectacle, and I too am glad I didn't pay money for a ticket. I hope we never see tackling like that taking a hold in SL. That said, Leeds have no-one to blame but themselves for failing to convert their chances, and McGuire's try was surely offside? I don't understand how they could go to the video ref and then still allow it?

This is absolutely unbelievable! I must have been watching a different sport to stevo and Eddie and Phil Clarke cos I remember SL being about as quick as a week in the jail last season and the NRL being back to it's flowing best with the 2 ref introduction. Obviously I'm mistaken.

Have to say with regards to the referee I was impressed with how Melbourne handled things. In Australia there are two referees which makes it much quicker. Melbourne would just wait for the command and get out. It was very smart.

Also anyone else think referee was under the weather. You could hear him coughing on the link and his voice went at times.

Well done to the Storm but Leeds haven't made a very good start to there season so far. This must have been a kick in the teeth for them after so mush Preperation. Personally I think the the likes of Wigan or Warrington would have beat the Storm but Leeds are just not at there best at the minute.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out for Leeds as there is some very strong sides this year in the Super League. Only time will tell..
