Finally we got there the magical 40 point mark...

Hopefully now the team will enjoy their last few games and we can get past Pompey and have a great day out at Wembley for the semi finals!!

I think McLeish has done a fantastic job to get a team that cannot score goals into the top 10 of the premier league and guarantee survival.....what a job!!

Great board, great Manager and now lets look forward!!

JOB DONE!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ALEX AND THE TEAM!!

11 games in the League left, and we've hit the 40 point mark with teams like Hull and Burnley at home and Pompey away left. Currently in the Top 8 (Although that probably will change this time tomorrow) and in the Quarter Final of the FA Cup with a great chance of getting to the semi-final.

If you would have said that this time last year i would of laughed and told people to get a grip. Although the performance wasn't good today, it still beats last years style of football that was quite frankly diabolical. I think the future looks bright roll on next week smiley

KRO ok

today probably should have been 0-0 as both teams were poor, however you have to take your chances when you get them and thats what mcfadden did today.

i thought the blues looked a little sluggish today in getting to the second ball and with fahey and larsson on the wings they naturally came inside and wigan had 5 in midfield so space was tight thus not allowing bowyer and ferguson time on the ball to pick out passes.

if jerome was a better target man he could have helped out alot by holding it up until the midfield caught up with play and the passing and movement would have been alot better, but it was all a bit rushed and panicky even when we were a goal up.

saying that though i still think the lads just did enough today to contain a pretty poor wigan side and the 3 pts is all that matters. id take a poor 1-0 win over a excellent 9-8 defeat any day of the week. you cant expect us to play like world beaters every week and again we have picked up all 3 pts without playing anywhere near our best.

we can now start looking towards the fa cup and hopefully get into the semi and the final. i also cant wait for the new season to see how we can progress and bring in to improve an already solid unit.

one last thing, congrats to the lads and to mcliesh they deserve to be where they are in the league after their hard work all season.

KRO

It was good to win today and 3 pts was the main objective! That being said, the quality of the match was awful! Poor passing, poor in the last third, too many pointless sideway passes. At the end of the day, we're going to have the odd bad game, but I really wouldn't want to watch that every week

Good result, Ugly performance!!!

Why is Eck holding Michel out of the team, he needs to get in the team. Bowyers legs are clearly going.

Seb Larsson was V poor. Again apart from set pieces what does he contribute? No width no creativity? Gardner would be better there until Seb decides he wants to play again.

Great way to go into the this double header with Pompey.

AM is an absolute genius! He's taking Brum to 8th - yes 8th - in the Premiership. And all with a rag tag rable of journeymen. Bring on the Pompey.

Amazing result well deserved and earned. Had a good view of the penalty behind the goal smiley and even though martinez moans that it wasnt a penalty it was a stonewaller melchiot took him down. We all hate referees and linesmen but it was good to see our fans actually showed respect to the linesman being stretchered off most of their fans just stood there waiting for their case to come up. amazing 3 points Bring on pompey and KRO

AM said it all after the game ,top strikers on five goals and we are in 8th spot , they dont score many but they do their share in helping the defence ,how many defenders does he need??
maybe he should play ridgewell in the centre foreward oosition .kro.

So proud of the team this season, the strikers are not banging in the goals but they help out the mid-field and ease the pressure on our defence. Bring on Pompey and the Summer.
