Bridge pulls out of England squad and wont go to he World Cup. In a statement, Bridge has said his position in the squad is "untenable and potentially divisive".

Is it fair on Bridge? What are the wider implications? For example, will John Terry bring a negative atmosphere to the England team leading up to and during the World Cup?

It would take some class for Terry to resign, and that really would be asking way too much from him.

50 years from now when all this is near forgotten Bridge will still have his self respect. If you sell yourself no matter what the potential glory is you find it hard to look in the mirror without hating yourself a little or in most cases a lot. Capello should sack Terry from the team and just have players who want to play football not a circus.

Terry should be booed when he sets foot on pitch against Egypt. We don't want him representing England. He should step down so Bridge can play for England. That's what any decent person would do...

Nuff said.

Alan - So Bridge has respect from you for the following reasons :-

1 With Cole getting injured, Bridge decides to try and use the World cup squad as a vendetta against JT.
Because Bridge is now in a stronger position than he as, when coles was playing, he decides weeks after the situation was made public, to mess Cappello about.
Because Cappello has stated that the door is open for Bridge, even though Bridge has closed it, how do you think this will affect other LB's who are in contention - I think they will be pretty upset about this.

2 Bridge thinks he has some sort of hold over a woman he dated 6 months earlier - What sort of man is he?

3 The world cup will be in another 3 months, so altogether 9 months from when it happened, JT may even be injured and not go, and Bridge is going to walk away.

4 99% of the nation would give their right arm to have this oportunity, that Wayne is walking away from

5 You could even argue, what sort of man is he?
would a Good Christian find a way to forgive, and not chase a vendetta.
Is bridge also treating his eX Missus the same way as he is with JT?

Some one should talk to Bridge and say, mate everyone knows what level of person JT is, but dont walk away from this dream and give in.
Stand up, and the Nation will stand up with you, there is an expression of 'cut off your nose to spite your face' dont walk away.

From what has been reported, I cannot see the issue with Bridge, if a stated, there is 6 months between him and this girl, not that it should matter, but has Bridge dated anyone in this 6 months, or has he been lead up the path by this girl, lets face it, as a single person, she wasnt obliged to even tell him.

I admire Wayne Bridge for making this statement, however he was never good enough to wear the England shirt anyway.

As a chelsea fan I use to respect Bridgey and have continued to keep an eye on his progress since being at Man City, however this is completely childish!

Let's put it in perspective...JT has a ding dong with his EX girlfriend and everyone shouts about what a terrible bloke he is and how immoral he is......I haven't once heard anyone saying poor Toni Poole. It's OK to cheat on your missus but not an ex colleague. Throw 100k plus a week at anyone with an ego the size of Mars and what are you gonna get? Lets face it, footballers aren't exactly the most educated of people now are they?
My missus left me 16 years ago for a friend..... God, I miss him!!

There is no way I would throw away the chance to play for my country in a World Cup.
Pick your toys up Wayne and get on with it, put an end to this ridiculous media circus once and for all!!!
