www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/c...

I have a particular interest in the Lions and future England players, but it appears that this view is not shared by many, so I have made this match thread for anyone who takes and interest.

I will aplogise now to any Pakistan fans, I will be focusing on the Lions performance,as I can't claim to have any interest in the Pakistan reserves. Although comments on them are of course welcome.

Lions Team:

Steven Davies
Craig Kieswetter
Michael Lumb
Ian Bell
Andrew Gale
Peter Trego
James Tredwell
Adil Rashid
Chris Woakes
Sajid Mahmood
Steve Kirby

Sticking with the same team that beat UAE 'A' seems odd, I assumed there would be some squad rotation

Find it hard to see why Kirby is included (provides experience blah blah blah) at the expense of someone like Finn, a real prospect. No offence to Kirby, he is a good bowler but I see the Lions as a springboard to the full team and I'm afraid he too old.

On a personal note, I hope Rashid does well in this match (even though I know he has already done well with figures of 4-0-21-2), as I've said before I was wary or his limited overs performances reducing his test prospects, especially when he is better at the longest version.

Any comments on the match or the squad/team?

BNP nonscence..i dont think so sunshine! i think your slightly confused. But i guess your the sort of person who cares about winning at all costs even if it means the player isn't english. Other countries management, players and fans laugh at us because we rely on their players and you are the sort of person who sadly is running the ECB..its a sorry state of affairs.....

he has talent with the bat, that is no doubt, his keeping needs a lot of work, and most of his runs last year came on one of the flatest pitches in world cricket, Taunton.
If they, somerset, start producing more competitive pitches then maybe he will progress quicker like we all hope.
Davies is still by far a more superior glove man and batsmen than craig at this time, but at least there is plenty of choice should prior not buck up his ideas!

Mahmood still pathetic I see.

Why cant we just give up on him?

He is bad enough for us at Lancs.

Nice win, find it odd that we are playing two keeper batsmen, are they considering Kieswetter or Davies to play limited over cricket as batsmen only?

Also find it odd Kirby plays at 33 years old thiink we should be pursuing younger options and why are we pursuing with Mahmood?

I find it odd that Kirby is playing. Surely there must be younger bowlers out there who deserve a chance? And poor Plunkett has bowled nothing yet. Is he likely to bowl for England?

The BBC website still hasn't a report of the game. There is a long report on the ECB website.

Clicked onto the scorecard... my thought process:

Good score by Bell... excellent score by Kieswetter... OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHAT IS MAHMOOD DOING!

<tongueout>

Yeah, I don't think he's going to be given many more chances.

Kieswetter has a Scottish Mum so should be playing for them in the T20 qualifiers right now!
